we have decades of misconceptions around mental illness now, largely due to presumptions based on rare but horrific events.

we also have so much history of inadvertently ignoring/dismissing violent behaviour we could be preventing by deeming it monstrous or inhumane.

i’m such a true crime nerd but it upsets me sometimes.
why is it glorifying violent people vs calling them evil?

what happened to being realistically disgusted by violent actions while wanting to know the emotional/thought process so that we can prevent them better without excusing it?

dumbest answer i know: but where do i actually learn this part of the santa lore as someone who was raised by anti-christmas parents?
