Software shouldn't need constant updates. For any other product, if the manufacturer kept calling round after you'd bought it to make uninvited changes to the thing you bought, you would think it was crazy.

Hi I wrote about the making of classic platformerChuckie Egg and talked to its creator Nigel Alderton. Please give it a read as I want to show there’s an audience for this gaming history stuff 🙏

"In the place of problem-solving technology, companies have jumped on successive bandwagons like NFTs, the metaverse, and large language models. What these all have in common is that they are not built to really solve a market problem. They are built to make VCs and companies rich"
It's 10 years today since Prince died.
So a reminder of this, that happened on the other place, because sometimes sadness can still bring laughter.
22.00 FILM: EVRI-THING, EVRI-WHERE ALL AT ONCE Award-winning multiverse adventure where your parcel is somehow at the depot, in transit, in your safe place, left with a neighbour, delayed, returned to send, in your green bin, all at the same time - but never actually with you.

The biggest problem with the excellent first half is wondering how the payoff for the setup can possibly work. The problem with the second half is that it doesn't.

i cannot be convinced Kneecap’s new single isn’t Adam Buxton
I really dislike commercial AI systems for many many reasons. This sort of API ransom is one of them.
If using AI at all… open source locally run models are the way to go.
I have complete control as they run directly on my Mac / PC
It can’t be taken away or modified unless I go in to change it.
Arguably it takes 3 episodes of The Testaments to set it up but why not just find that out on a week by week basis?
One thing worse than releasing all episodes at once is releasing three at a time. Please stop.
This @recordstoreday.bsky.social I’m remembering THE GREATEST and much missed record shop of all (don’t @ me) SOUND IT OUT. Here’s a scene from the film I made there.

300+ new followers this week, thanks so much for joining our mildly amusing/rarely offensive/perfect for children's parties/if wet will be held indoors account. More new CEEFAUXs to come next week, but in the meantime - especially if you're new - a weekend of our best oldies (repeats basically)

A decent enough way to spend a Friday night but as a Edgar Wright film it's a big disappointment. I've since heard Wright wanted to step back from his usual style so I guess he achieved that. The w...

Maybe Sky and C4 could partner and show last week's SNL the following Friday
Watched the start of #TFIUnplugged 'live' last night and even though it obviously doesn't make any sense I still think #SNLUK would be so much better on Fridays
Show the full archive music clips, put it on at 6pm before the BBC4 TOTP repeats, film it better. Also what about it is "unplugged"
#TFIUnplugged has to be one of the worst made versions of shove the radio/podcast on TV. Still enjoyable but could be so much better
If AI was genuinely useful your employees would choose to use it, you wouldn't have to mandate its use.

Suddenly understand why Microsoft have been pushing Copilot so hard. Nothing ever changes, it's all just a bait and switch around licences.

Orban and Farage
Orban has conceded. Majority too big for him to try any nonsense. Tisza is going to have plenty of challenges in sorting out Orban's mess but this is a good day.
The #SNLUK cold open about Melania Trump was funny.
The show seems quieter on social media though.
