It prompted me to roll stats at the end of my character creation.

Also I’d like to note that me being bad at doing this was one of the core motivations of me making Arabica
I think it’s more of a skill than anything else, and I wasn’t particularly good at verbalizing *why* I think a cup of coffee is good or bad before practicing a bunch as a result of making Arabica. I’m still not the best at it, but I’ve definitely gotten better and that has felt pretty rewarding
i think @winesky.app and @arabica.social are two of the cooler uses of atproto, a shared store of sensory data and preparation wisdom is really cool
The sheer amount of joy I have with having @arabica.social exist is just incredible. Super happy to see this out there!

Makes me a bit self conscious about posting there lol, my pictures aren’t that good
Check out @hacdias.com’s site, he has a pretty cool page for recent brews and beans (which inspired a own page on my site)
Yeah the delete thing was the reason I went with the system I currently have (only the sourceRef is broken if the record is deleted, which doesn’t change anything on the users side)
There’s maybe an argument to handle it some other way, maybe with trusted records on the service side but idk
The most credible
My top 5 atmosphere apps I use regularly and love:
1. @arabica.social
2. @tangled.org
3. @teal.fm
4. @semble.so
5. @leaflet.pub
This isn’t something I plan to support (for a while at least), since I don’t have the time or desire to set up image moderation right now. Maybe something to do in the farther future, but for now I think the best way to do this would just be posting on grain/bluesky.
I think there are still some kinks to work out, but I haven’t had much opportunity to test it yet since most records so far have been unique
There is actually a hidden system (tied to the suggestions system) that does something like that. There’s not currently anything in the UI, but internally, accepting a suggestion in a record creation form adds a sourceRef field to the record: pdsls.dev/at://did:plc...
Good coffee is pretty good (not for your wallet though)
I should probably change that on my side to just say “Arabica” tbf
I’m definitely going to take a swing at this later today though
I need to stop nerdsniping myself, because I’m already working on like 3 different side projects, but it would be really cool if I could pull in cocoon as a go library and spin up a local only (mocked/local PLC) and use that for easy integration testing
For the record, I’ve thought about this a bit since I know several people would absolutely love a tea version, and it’s something I’d like to do (a common review lexicon would save me time since that’s the main bottleneck)
I like the idea, not sure if I’d want to make a separate app for it (probably, maybe a fork of arabica?)
I’d say the biggest thing I’d want first is some sort of standard.site lexicon for reviews (I’ve talked briefly about this with @taurean.bryant.land)
Need to talk to the standard site folks
👀
I’d be down to try this out, I’d love to get notifications from @arabica.social
What a great name for a starter pack

@pdewey.com’s arabica.social profile, showing stats cards: 100 brews, 9 beans, 5 roasters, 3 grinders, and 4 brewers. The 100th brew is also shown, using the Rwanda Kungahara Carbonic Maceration bean from Red Rooster Coffee
I’m up to 100 brews logged on @arabica.social!!
Saw lots of new coffee people join bsky today, you guys should check out @arabica.social (you can sign in with your bluesky account and log and review your brews)
I'm cooking up something, its not ready quite yet though
Very cool, I’ve done something similar with my @arabica.social and @teal.fm records, but I might have to bring in sifa (and maybe tangled for projects 👀)
