I badly need to rewrite this piece, I'm repeating myself pretty thickly. But yes, the two things I need to focus on are "this is just a thing that happens" and "the universe isn't looking at you." The second ætt is a contrast to the first, which establishes the social norms.

– Óðinn was famously a liar.
– No three communities would agree on his nature or role.
– His record was revised multiple times by colonists.

I think one of the strengths of #OldNorse is how people form personal relationships with it today, and I think that's because even the source material is just reconstruction and memory. There's no definitive word, only the collective voice of disparate communities. There's no "true path."

Keeping a foot in both worlds, interpreting the roles of jötnar in mind as they're successively employed by patriarchal societies, while also engaging with them as an indigenous population. Hard to talk about without sounding unhinged. #OldNorse

It looks like my workday is overburdened with dozens of tasks, but only one-third of them are things I can accomplish in the workday. The remainder are an increasing pile of tasks waiting on other people to do their work.

I feel good about this!

Visited Mom yesterday. This time we drove out to a small town on the river, took in the air, watched the eagles. And I was going to grill, but we decided to find a nearby restaurant and dine out for once. It was a lovely afternoon, should do that more often.

I do like to start the day with a hot cup of coffee.

I drink mushroom coffee, because the regular stuff was burning a hole in my gut, but this is still delicious. Ostensibly there are some health benefits to it, which I haven't seen, but it's a suitable morning drink/ritual, so who cares.
