Like yeah they would show average prices back then too, but the price of the game wasn't always the focus. It was just FINDING it and talking about it is what made those videos great.
One of the most annoying things with "retro game collecting" videos these days is when they show a screenshot of eBay or Amazon with whatever item of interest is shown. Doesn't matter if it is rare or common.

I think part of it is they are marketing towards a more casual crowd that just buys them with no knowledge of the company. Their main target is not the people who look into this stuff, it's the casual millenial/Gen-Z that remember the GBC and want to relive those old memories.

I understand where you are coming from. And i'm certainly not trying to promote any hate towards people who made purchases without doing research. Most people will often just buy things that interest them, not out of malice but because they like something. It doesn't make them stupid or evil.

I'm just saying that me personally, i'm not going to be going out of my way to buy this stuff. At least not brand new and definitely not directly from them.
The difference is that it's not a necessity, it's a luxury. You don't need to eat chocolate (but you can make your own from scratch), you do need clothes, and a car is necessary if you plan on commuting to work.
If people want to continue buying it directly from them, then by all means.

At this point, originals hardware on the SNES 3chips are dying out. And if we are replacing one chip with an FPGA, we might aswell do the entire set. 🙃
I'm starting to think instead of just a SNES CPU replacement, it would be more cost-effective for one to replace all 3 SNES ICs with a single FPGA + DAC. And considering their do exist cores for the Tang Nano, it should be possible...
Which is why I think the only good approach to this would be to get it via 3rd party sources, primarily pre-owned. That way your money doesn't go directly to this regime.
Like I said in a previous post, i think I'll just wait until people start selling it pre-owned. That way, my money is only going to a third party source, rather than directly to the foundation that is tied to war crimes and LGBTQ+ suppression.
