Centralizing processing of government IDs is a great way to save costs, but it also makes them very juicy, high value targets for hackers. These "third party identity verification services" are now finding out that their systems are not sufficiently secure for any of this. Very fun.

This is the chilling effect that this crackdown is having, and I really hate that it's consumed a lot of my mental bandwidth for the past few weeks.
Simply to reduce the risk of getting shut down by payment processors for hosting pornographic images. I don't even know if that concern is just unwarranted paranoia on my part, but I don't want to risk getting shut down and financially ruined because of the increased scrutiny by payment processors.
As much as I love the hardcore pornography and bondage in the preview images on SmutBase, there may come a time soon when I will start asking people to make their preview images less explicit.
I'm very tired and I want this to stop.
