In mine eyes, it doesn't matter that she's "pretending" to want to leave. If someone says to me, "I'm going home," and I think/know they're just pretending, I'm going to honor what they just said. I can see something as creepy without going to the extreme of disowning my ancestors. My dad's wife is quite (unintentionally) racist. I don't disown her though I find a lot of the things she says/does as rather terrible. That's where compassion and understanding come into play.

Imma go with... regardless. Back in the day, when a woman said she wanted something (i.e. I've got to go away), it may have been socially acceptable to pressure her to do something else (i.e. BUT baby, it's cold outside). Sure, back in the day, not honoring a person's initial request was common.
