Honest question…can’t we assert the last line of the 12th and be done with this? No one who is ineligible to be president can be VP. Or is the interpretation of “qualifications” only what is listed in Art. II? It seems clear that a person elected twice is now ineligible for pres, thus also for VP.

All of this is true, but it should also be remembered that he is just stupid. Since he came on the scene I have been screaming that he is just actually an idiot who can barely read and for a decade the press has treated him as some mystical, political phenomenon.

My summer American Legal History class just analyzed warning newspaper adds from the 19th century warning runaway enslaved people of bounty hunter sightings.

Right. And my wife quit her job as a teacher because childcare is an impossible expense.

I’m 33, married, 4 kids. Head of a single income household with a mortgage and a little bit of student debt. I’m WELL off compared to most and I just had a mild panic attack this morning thinking about this very thing. This is going to be impossible?

illegal war started by a man constitutionally ineligible to be president

Mass protests need to disrupt this.

Stephen Miller has been giddy for this. If you think this admin hasn’t been waiting for a chance to gun down people in the streets you’ve been sleeping.

Reminder…governors can say “no” to this.

I don’t disagree with Bouie often but I do here. This is precisely what they’ve been calculating for. They’ve desired a “reason” for escalation for a while. But he does raise a good point: can they keep loyalty on the military side? That is not clear.

This is insane and in so many ways exactly what the admin wants. They are fascists who want to feel power (hence the full tactical clown suits) but also the admin desperately wants more people to resist like this so they can jack up the violence and feel “justified”.

Has anyone stopped to think that, just like every slop EO and official statement from this WH, a large portion of the report was probably written with AI. We know it makes up citations.

And, of course, this is why Vance shoots his mouth off every time he's in front of a microphone. If given the chance, each and every one of these people would be a malicious, fascist, strong-man wielding all the power for themselves.

This is why Burgum is using NPS for personal trips and forcing Interior staff to act as caterers for "official" dinners. This is why Patel and Bongino are beefing up their own security squad to follow them around all day, even though that breaks precedent.

I've been saying this all along...every one of these people are petty tyrants that want to have their own kingdom. They are so drunk with their proximity to power that they violate every function of their actual job description. None of these appointees care about anything other than feeling strong.

So it’s clear now who Tapper sees himself as, or rather whom he wants the history books to see him as.

Historian here it is the fall of the Republic. The President does not know that he has to uphold the Constitution and the dog killer Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security thinks habeas corpus means the opposite of what it actually does. God save the United States of America!

My APUSH kids LOVE this cite. I pair with a great lecture from @rauchway.bsky.social and his arguments about why all of this matters for our conception of democracy.

I’ve been watching this guy for years…this (higher office) was ALWAYS the goal. There is no considering. He wants higher and always will. And he’ll destroy whatever he has to in order to get there.

All has its place, but the foundational skills of social studies (reading, analysis, argumentation, etc) *I think* are better developed when ss majors can be more immersed in their history programs.

I’d say a stronger orientation toward the teaching of history as a discipline. Far more prepared to teach analysis and writing. As a young HS teacher, before grad school in history, I was more pushed toward tech and surface engagement with content as secondary.

I was trained in a College of Education, but now adjunct in a program where it is housed in the History/Politics dept. The student teachers coming out of this program are far more prepared to engage kids in good historical/civic ed than I was. Big advocate of keeping it in History dept.

US Constitution - Article I, section 8, clause 3: "Congress shall have...the power to regulate Commerce with foreign nations..."

There is no "deal" until Congress approves.

It’s clear too bother much of the garbage coming from the White House is also written by AI.

Does this guy bank his horrible takes through the year and save them for testing season? Does he proof read anything? I have never seen someone so tone deaf year in and year out. Just colossally disconnected.

This is not hard. It is exactly what Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro and the rest of the online ilk do to college kids and then they are heralded as debate gods who cannot be beaten. Just ask for follow ups.

There really needs to be mass protest to this. Disrupt the stupid thing, drown it out. But the admin already knows that will happen that’s why they won’t release any plans.

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/29/doge-impact-washington-spending-100days-00316587

🚨🚨100 days of DOGE:
— 250,000 workers exiting
— 11 agencies gutted
— 64 lawsuits filed
— $160B in claimed savings
— 8,500 contracts + 10,000 grants killed

Yet government spending is still higher than last year.

For an admin that wants to argue unitary executive and the president whose brand is a tough-ass boss man, he sure claims to know nothing about anything MOST of the god-damned time. Can the press please start asking him why he doesn’t know? Isn’t that embarrassing?
