"[W]hat is the result of your experience?
I believe them to be productive of almost unmixed evil with respect to every party connected with them, whether those for the benefit of whom they are apparently made, or the public."
A reminder that @law-and-humanities.bsky.social Arts reviews editor @drelenacooper.bsky.social will consider reviews of architecture relating to legal themes.
This was a brilliant talk by @drmarieip.bsky.social
The "Planning Applications Scotland" dashboard covers specific types of development which can, helpfully, also be broken down by local authority.

Last week at Aberdeen I spoke about a favourite topic from my @leverhulme.bsky.social research fellowship project: architects' insistence that they - not their clients - own architectural plans and drawings.
I was recently introduced to the catchy slogan "What’s it called? Cumbernauld!" when trying to get the pronunciation right and now I'm going to read about Cumbernauld and other Scottish new towns: www.bloomsbury.com/uk/building-...

Yes, I agree!
I'd be more productive today if I wasn't looking out of my office window every few minutes trying to spot the peregrine fledglings flying from the Gilbert Scott tower.
This article plots the unrelenting opposition to Lawson’s entrepreneurship and explains why her successful litigation to enforce her legal rights was a hollow victory. It raises significant questions of contemporary relevance about law, culture, power and political strategy.
It used to be the best thing about my employer was the monkey puzzle tree but now it's the peregrine falcons in the tower.
"Donor restrictions on galleries and museums" special issue of Art Antiquity and Law co-edited by Elena Cooper and Steph Scholten: www.create.ac.uk/blog/2024/04... It includes fascinating archival work on Whistler's 'Portrait of Lady Eden' which is not allowed to be exhibited... or is it?
It's an exciting time for CREATe @create-glasgow.bsky.social : not only did we join Bluesky (hooray!), but the centre is being relaunched as the centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy, having secured AHRC infrastructure funding.
Want to celebrate with us? Join us in March!
There is still time to submit an ISHTIP workshop abstract... the deadline has been extended to Monday 22 January 2024.
Wonderful to see this published in the Illinois JLTP: "Surrogate IP Rights in the Cultural Sector" by CREATe alumna @andeewallace.bsky.social ore.exeter.ac.uk/repository/h...

Isabella Alexander will be in Glasgow today to give a CREATe Public Lecture on copyright history and cartography based on her fantastic book, read it here: www.bloomsbury.com/uk/copyright...
I've enjoyed reading the chapter by Cristina S. Martinez, 'Blackstone as Draughtsman' (2014). Blackstone wrote two treatises on architecture before writing the commentaries. Writing about an amateur interest "at leisure Hours" sounds fun.
