Reminder that 100,000 people marched for Trans Pride in London earlier this year, but because they weren't violent fascists, there was minimal press coverage, unlike the Nazis today.

I had a great time at the University of Amsterdam this week, teaching a workshop on how to turn a PhD dissertation into a book, and giving a lecture about my new book Southern Interregnum — thanks to Tommy Tse and his team for hosting me :)
Yay! I finally got my hands on @marcusrediker.bsky.social’s new book.
Diving into one of his texts is always a combined intellectual, literary, and emotional (because human!) experience ❤️
Now excuse me while I dig in 🤓

As we wrapped our symposium last Friday, one of the speakers said to me: "Do you realize we haven't mentioned the US or Europe a single time in our discussions? We've thoroughly provincialized the global North, haven't we?"
That is something I count as an intellectual lifegoal.

Michael Burawoy's death is just so utterly heartbreaking and hard to fathom.
His brilliance, energy, jovial kindness, curiosity, and principled and brave stances are all examples to follow for scholars everywhere.
Michael will rest in power.
