Hopefully much longer - June 13 is just the plea hearing. If he pleads guilty, he will likely be sentenced to 2+ years and if he pleads not guilty then they may keep him in until trial (which will be months away). Even if bailed, there will be strict conditions.

No - it’s a criminal prosecution so charges are being brought by the Crown Prosecution Service and not the victim (so he can’t pay anyone off). They wanted to deal with it at the time but he left the UK and went back to the US to dodge the charges (but they were waiting for him to return)

Of course, like everyone Chris Brown deserves his day in court and it will be a jury that ultimately decides whether he is guilty or not (unless he pleads guilty himself)

The victim can’t ‘drop the charges’ or ‘settle out of court’. This isn’t a civil matter, it’s a criminal one. They have witnesses and CCTV evidence lined up. this isn’t the victim vs CB, it is the CROWN vs. CB.

GBH with intent is a SERIOUS CHARGE - it is only just below attempted murder. If found guilty, he will most likely receive a prison sentence of 2+ years which he will need to serve IN THE UK. Once released he would then be deported to the US and likely not allowed back. 9/

He won’t get ‘house arrest’ or the opportunity to do his time in luxury in a hotel or similar, On remand he will treated like other prisoners (though they will likely watch him very closely as his high profile would make him an alluring target to other inmates) 8/

At that hearing, a decision will be made on whether to remand him in custody again or grant him bail (likely with strict conditions)

The trial won’t start on June 13 either - but he might enter a plea to the charges. If he pleads guilty, the process will be quicker - a trial will be months away 6/

The reason the UK media is saying ‘allegedly’ in reports isn’t them casting doubt on anything. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty - the allegedly will only be dropped if he is found guilty or pleads guilty

I’ve seen people asking why they haven’t seen the CCTV of the attack if it exists. This will not be released to the public until AFTER it is shown in court. in the UK, people are tried by the court system and not the media. Releasing it would prejudice his chance of a fair trial 4/

There’s no ‘statute of limitations’ on crimes like this. If there is evidence you committed a crime, you can bet you will have to face it at some point if you return to the UK. Extradition from the US is a lengthy complex process so the UK just played the long game and waited for him to return 3/
