Lovely to meet with SOSCAās Libby and Mike from Hayling Sewage Watch yesterday in Parliament to discuss the āDirty Businessā docudrama and the frustrations locally in our constituency around development that doesnāt take sewage capacity or infrastructure into account.
Posts by Jess Brown-Fuller š¶
3. Residents in Bosham, especially those involved in the Highgrove Monitoring Implementation Group, have been sounding the alarm about the lack of capacity at the wastewater treatment works since the development was proposed.
2. The 300-home development was approved with a planning condition attached; that no houses would be occupied before capacity issues had been addressed.
Well surprise, surprise. The developers are now keen to move residents in to their first phase houses and are going back to the planning department
7. under directives from successive governments, with little to no additional infrastructure put in place.
The Leader of the House has agreed to ask the Secretary of State to meet with me so I can discuss these very serious issues and the impact itās having on our communities.
6. The tankering of sewage, creating additional pressures on the roads and more noise for residents with tankers parked outside their houses 24/7, is not sustainable development, itās sticking plaster measures for an area that has taken a huge amount of development over recent years
5. Over in Earnley/Bracklesham, CDC have refused an application from the developers to hold the sewage in an attenuation tank which would then be released āat non-peak timesā (2am in the morning, then?)
4. to attempt to have that condition removed.
The leader of the District Council and Bosham Councillor, Adrian Moss, has red carded the application so it will now go in front of the planning committee (date tbc).
Today I asked for a meeting to be arranged with the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government regarding infrastructure-first development, which we certainly donāt see in our area.
I defended your right to a fair trial by voting against the governmentās Courts and Tribunals Bill, seeking to erode the right to a jury trial for a number of serious sentences of up to three years.
Scrapping jury trials will do absolutely nothing to bring down the spiralling court backlog.
Today, Iāll be voting to protect children in Chichester and across the Country from harmful social media platforms.
Weāre calling for a harms-based approach, with a film-style age rating for social media apps, protecting under-16s from content that they shouldnāt see.
Iām sorry Peter, Iāve been rubbish.
I will endeavour to also share posts here.
I have tabled an amendment to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill, which seeks to make National Landscapes statutory consultees on planning applications.
Gideon Amos MP is supportive of the amendment and will speak in favour of it at the bill committee stage, which is due to start tomorrow.
A short week last week with Easterās Bank Holiday (doesnāt that already feel like a lifetime ago?) but here are some of the things I got up to!
𦷠Today I sat down with my colleagues Danny Chambers and Alison Bennett to discuss dentistry with Eddie Crouch, the Chair of the British Dental Association.
Over 12 million people in the UK are without an NHS dentist and the dental contract, which is fundamentally flawed, needs urgent reform.
A little of what I got up to last week!
Itās a little late this week, but hereās some of what I got up to last week as Chichesterās Member of Parliament!

Happy World Book Day! #WBD
While I get Mad Hatter and Princess Pirate to school this morning, Iām very grateful to Oakwood School for inviting me to celebrate World Book Day a day early and meet some fantastic book characters!
Iād love to see your world book day characters from across Chichester!

This morning Ofwat have announced their proposed water bill rises for consumers around the country, with Southern Water customers being hit the hardest with a 44% increase for 2025-26. My constituents in Chichester will, like me, be angry and shocked that itās up to bill payers to pick up the pieces
A day late! This is just some of the things I got up to last week, both in Parliament and in the Chichester constituency.
Youāve never heard a Christmas single quite like this before.
Ed Davey and Bath Philharmonia Young Carers' Choir present: āLove is Enoughā - in support of the Bath Phil and Carers Trust.
Out tomorrow! šāļø
As an MP, some days are harder than others⦠š¶
Great to welcome Battersea to Parliament today to hear about their work and their asks of the Government.
Hard to walk away today without committing to taking home a new member of the family, especially this gorgeous 8 year old girl in the picture!
šØ Today I was able to ask the Home Secretary directly if she agrees with me that re-opening Chichester Custody Centre would take police officers out of traffic jams and back into our communities.
I am glad she will also back my call to the Police & Crime Commissioner to re-open the custody centre.
Always a pleasure to see you!
Another week representing my very special patch!
Big day today - Joined BlueSky and found out Iād been made into a Top Trump card.
