Last Weekend I got to go to the ATC Emerging Leader Summit in New Jersey! It was great meeting lots of folks and learning more about all the 1000 parts that goes into conserving the AT!

At the start of the year, the trail ambassadors in Georgia had a big map of the trail closures and the reroutes. Glad to see it narrowed to 5 miles!
We were south of Hawk Mountain today installing check steps to prevent trail cupping!
The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club has taught me a ton about trail maintenance. It is nice to go on trips this time of year where it isn't too hot.

AT Gateways is approaching! Its a popular day to start hiking the while Appalachian Trail. Last year I was working at basecamp, where I gave tags out to over 100 hikers!
There's great speakers and vendors at this event, covering all things AT.
Next year it'll be from February 27th to March 1st!
Got to go backpacking with my dad to Max Patch! It's funny he taught me like 80% of what I know about backpacking.
Now Im teaching him the other 20% about ultralight!

The Appalachian Trail Yearbook for 2024 came in!
During my hike last year, a former sheriff of Maine told me her frustration where an old abandoned road was still marked as a way to get off trail in an isolated section.
The problem was the road was in such bad shape that even ATVs couldn't go all the way.
It took a long time to get it removed.

I used to get blisters a bit further in on my heel than you.
Really making sure to leukotape early as a hot spot develops and draining if it gets large helps.
As you said precondition helped a lot. Also look up socks liners, I know injinji is popular, and sometimes switching shoes helps too
