My whole life is my worst fashion phase
The poster for "Oh, Mary!" outside Trafalgar Theatre.
I also saw "Oh, Mary!" a few weeks ago which was really stupid. I loved it.
I can't say I wasn't warned.
The stage for the West End revival of Avenue Q.
Last time I saw Avenue Q in the West End I was a teenager. And yet I still went ahead and got a BA in English...
Are true crime podcasts just the modern equivalent of going to the town square to watch a hanging
I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
The new SLAYYYTER album is really very good. Wears its influences on its sleeve but never feels like a pastiche. open.spotify.com/album/5siV9C...
Imagine going to space and you don't even get to turn your out of office on.
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
All Saints and William Orbit were such a perfect fit
A photograph of Milton Keynes' concrete cow statues.
These cows have *been* serving it New Towns Act 1946 style.
St Vincent's set at The Proms was one of the best gigs I've been to. I'm excited to revisit it now a live album has been released open.spotify.com/album/2xdIxg...
A poster for Dracula starring Cynthia Erivo at the Noel Coward Theatre.
So many roles! So many costumes! So many accents! This production occasionally buckles under its gimmick if I'm honest, but it's very impressive all the same, and doesn't outstay it's welcome.
It's not enough to be able to mute words and phrases. I need to mute an actor's face.
POV: you've come home and found your flatmate Florence Pugh has used your last face mask from Lush.
It's never too late to give Judy her Oscar
wait, fuck, this is gorillaz
Right now, unfolding around us on a global scale, is a rich and unambiguous lesson on the dangers of fossil fuel dependence. The most obvious solution is for the affected countries to reduce their dependence through clean energy.
Are you seeing that message in media?
And as if the hotel's soundproofing wasn't bad enough, there is a light that never goes out.
"Roger Moore opened up his beautiful Bel Air home for the occasion. Also in attendance were Bianca Jagger, Bruce Forsythe, Robert Redford, the cast of 'Little House on the Prairie', Bob Fosse, and Kermit, with whom I would embark on a two year long affair that would derail both of our lives."
I am listening to Liza Minnelli's audiobook. I admire her commitment to dropping names. Every now and then she'll just pause the narrative to list the incredibly famous people from the 70s who turned up to a party she was throwing.
"Punctured bicycle, on a hillside desolate..."
Enjoy! I had a really nice time.
Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia. A white cathedral with copper-green domes topped with sparkling gold domes and crosses, photographed against a clear blue sky.
I was utterly dazzled by St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia. The inside is beautiful too. Lots of peacocks and lions and saints with brilliant gold halos.
It's a photo of me taken on a phone in a mirror. I am wearing a white t-shirt.
I don't hate this photo. That is all.
Definitely. I'd say a lot of that album does
Taking this as a sign to listen to Alanis Morissette. Thank U.
A stylised statue of a man wearing a suit and tie. He has blocky arms that extend down to grip the edges of a light-coloured stone pedestal.
A large, dynamic sculpture of a man in a striding pose. His right arm is thrust forward and his left arm is raised high, both with clenched fists. He is dressed in work trousers and a jacket.
A bronze statue of two smiling women wearing headscarves and dresses. One woman stands with her hand on her hip with a tool in her other hand.
A large red five-pointed star, from the former 'Party House' in Sofia with a metal frame and faceted glass panels, mounted on a weathered white pole.
Some sculptures on display at the Museum of Socialist Art in Sofia.
He's just in his flop era! It won't last forever!
