We are engaged! I am over the moon with my alexandrite ring that fluoresces under a blacklight! A perfect ring for a gamer and chemist. The fact that I get to spend the rest of my life with Charles ain't too bad, either. 😉

Today's discovery: if I put on Dancing Mad (SNES version, naturally) as I get onto the 5, I can get from North San Diego county all the way to my exit in San Diego proper just as it is ending.

I played Xenogears while taking chemistry in high school, and that's where I learned about nanotechnology. Decided to go to school for that. Nanostructures underpinned my PhD, and now I use them to develop custom lateral flow diagnostic tests. Thanks, Tetsuya Takahashi and @square-enix-games.com !

Sometimes life smacks me in the face and takes me out of my comfort zone. In those moments, I am reminded that in so many ways, and for so many reasons, I am so darn lucky.

Interesting decision to go with a competitive assay with a fungal polysaccharide target. I bet the sensitivity could get better if the assay format was switched to a sandwich and the same antibody used both on the conjugate and at the test line.
