true, I remember that as well. more than 10 years ago when I got my first gig, the AD raised my payment when he realised he was underpaying me giving me what I asked for. things definitely changed

people are extremely likely to accept a low paying job in hopes that it will be the one "breaking through", so they start getting the higher ones. they don't realize this moment will never come. competition is also really big nowadays, they fear if they don't do it, any other artist will do it.

I have at least two more book ideas gnawing on me, also based on my OCs and worldbuilding, that I'd love to work on and publish myself, but I think international selling will only happen via crowdfunding campaigns then. Feels more secure and less stressful.
