My only guess (which is a long shot) is that somehow quotas got set; you can check with `sudo tune2fs -l /dev/disk/by-partlabel/kubuntu_2504 |grep -i quota` . If it outputs anything, then there's your problem.

I use fgallery (www.thregr.org/wavexx/softw...) for that; if you're OK with command line tools, I can strongly recommend it. It's command-line only, but if you like the way the output looks, a GUI would be fairly simple to make.
