Why don't platforms like Shop, the grocery store, etc allow me to export a single list of all of my transactions so that I can sum up my sales taxes for the year so that I can itemize my income tax deductions.
Hell my credit card should be able to do this for me.

Stolen Bonsai from Seattle Area

Hey Seattle and PNW-based members, Unfortunately, a couple of my bonsai went missing from our yard last night, likely in the very early morning. These were very special and sentimental to …
Someone read Starship Troopers too many times and also didn't understand it.
I see a lot of comments on this site that advocate for sending people to the Hauge. And I have to tell you we have plenty of prisons and laws in this country. We don't need to have the ICC to do this for us.
But it takes the will to actually prosecute them.
Nothing says the war is going well like firing generals after failing to explain what the hell you are doing on national TV.
And all things are only done for now. Especially in software you have to send to it or it eventually stops working.
Nothing says "this war is going fine" like firing your generals.
Follow up question has to be what was he resisting doing or not doing enough of for the administration.
I'd guess being careful about targeting or resisting boots on the ground.
Yes, bonsai are dependent on people to care for them, they need food and water. But it also isn't correct to say that they are kept on the edge of death. You can't do any work to make a bonsai a work of art if it is not healthy.
I suspect that maybe NASA has a risk averse engineering engineering culture that might struggle with the social programs management? Like I love them but it's way outside of their cultural wheelhouse.
Maybe put them in charge of green energy transition...
I have no pitty and a lot of disdain for them, but it must be fucking weird to be his speech writer.
I'm surprised not to see a discussion that all of these companies will now have increased power costs because natural gas generation is going to get a lot more expensive for a while.
These data centers are sized by their power consumption. And the magical cost of power is up.
Not really true at all. A bonsai, well cared for can thrive and be very healthy, if small.
It's creating trees that look ancient at small scale, not keeping a tree weak.
We can also keep trees that can no longer survive in their natural range in a container.
I remember doing app review and certification for Splunk and thinking we needed to have this fully automated review system like Apple. Only to find out that Apple was just having people read the code too.
I felt better and worse at the same time. There was no promised land.
1/ The US attempted to send several Iran-bound bombers to an Italian air base without prior authorisation and was refused permission by the Italian government while the aircraft were in flight. The news comes a day after Spain disclosed it was refusing US military overflights. ⬇️
No he was visiting Seattle and the Puget Sound Bonsai Association
Front of a Chinese juniper bonsai with some shari on the front.
View of a Chinese juniper bonsai from the left. There is lots of foliage way too far away from the trunk.
View of a Chinese juniper bonsai from the right, again way too much foliage away from the trunk.
Planned approach graft that will bring foliage much closer to the trunk so I can cut off longer branches.
But of a bust, I needed to do grafting, but I didn't have grafting tape or nails, so we talked about it and I'm going to do it later. But the tree came out looking the same.
But I have a plan, and we confirmed what a good front was.

Agreed. I want to have these feeds to discover people I want to follow on topics. I want to add people who talk about bonsai to a bonsai list, but I don't know them, because honestly there aren't a lot of them.
I've spent quite a bit of time tuning two list generation algorithms to create topic specific feeds. But they are a mess of topic posts, because you can only do so much with hashtags and regex.
They are a series of engineering vignettes more than strong novels. It starts with a premise of danger and then makes the protagonist do engineering to survive. That can be a fun thought exercise, and it makes for a heroic tale, but they aren't writing to elevate the human condition.
Lessons for community labelers:
Skywatch is a part of Bluesky's composable moderation, as a community-run labeler that people can subscribe to
labels are a type of metadata about account/content. They exist on their own and as part of API responses or directly embedded in records themselves.
Very excited to go to a Michael Hagadorn workshop tomorrow and work on one of my trees with the most potential. #bonsai
My personal theory is that growing from startup to public company means that you were comfortable moving fast and occasionally breaking things to get PMF, then learning how to unbreak and outrun your early decisions to make sure you have a company that isn't duct tape and chicken wire.
The hard part of product management has never been getting requirements written down. It has been prioritizing customer problems that aligned with business objectives when engineering cycles were the bottleneck. Maybe we have waste cycles now, but the list of things we could do was always infinite.
The SecDef would absolutely tell the Marines to do an amphibious landing just to say that it was the first combat landing since Korea, not because it solves any problems.
It's like we watched the Ukraine-Russia war and signed up to be Russia. 🤦
Oh my god, the alt text is a gift. 😹
I visited RIT on the first great warm spring day of the year, and the weather and atmosphere were not representative of the average day in Rochester.
I don't know why this isn't every headline or the start of every analysis of his actions.
"Aged man crashes car again, kids still won't take his keys and license"
Having the 82nd Airborne seize something without someone else to show up and hold on to it is just a way to kill a lot of airborne troopers and make the situation worse.
