Throw back to the time when I confessed to my tutor I was really struggling to get through Middlemarch ahead of the seminar and his only response was to tell me about a friend of his - "he read Middlemarch in a day and he told me it was one of the best days of his life" and left the matter at that.

Hardy - I don't think we'd catch any of the language whatsoever but he's such a big guy it'd be impressive anyhow.
Jordan - that stature and smile as he watches Martius' undoing and ultimately "stands on" him would be unforgettable. Actual chills.
Working on my Coriolanus chapter this week so here's my mind-casting based purely on arbitrary vibes alone and my short-term memory of actors I am aware of:
Caius Martius - Tom Hardy
Tullus Aufidius - Michael B. Jordan
Barely surviving the Latour reading and then he cracks out "in this lecture, which will probably be more difficult than the others" ...
What I like is that this is footnote 29, when they could have had this as footnote 1 and then eliminated all others.
"I, a human being, wrote this just now" - absolutely fire addition to any email signature.
How to do really good anthropomorphism 101
A viral dog rescue from 2016 is now immortalized with a statue in Kazakhstan. When a dog fell into the Sayran reservoir, bystanders formed a human chain to pull him to safety. The statue is a reminder of the value of unity, solidarity and collective action. 14/10 for all
The picture shows a piece of limestone with a drawing of a mouse sitting in front of a table of offerings, smelling the fragrance of a lotus flower which she holds in her hand. Opposite of the table is a cat, holding a fan.
A charming #Egyptian drawing of a #cat acting as a servant to a #mouse. Drawings of animals acting as people were meant as satire of the society and politics.
Dating 13th/12th century BC, probably from Deir el-Medina, #Egypt.

Why does this fancy old dog have better hair than me? :(

It was presented to him by the Mughal emperor Jahangir in the early 1620s. (Victoria & Albert Museum, London

It's (not) funny because this is what was said to me word for word about a career in the performing arts so ultimately I gave up and did a PhD..........
Just putting it out there, while I still have the privilege of a Fellowship for next 6 months, that if early modern ECRs need me to read cover letters, funding apps, article drafts, book proposals, etc, I am happy to take some of these on (with the proviso that I will reach capacity at some point!)
Reminds of the time a colleague said he was "disappointed in me" that I hadn't read Jordan Peterson so I couldn't comprehensively understand whether or not what he was a bad person.
Me to me as I spot at least two mistakes on a journal article I just submitted even though I did my best to proofread it really hard because I full-well know just how bad I at proofreading

Woodcut illustration of a hunter with a large dog. However, the hunter stands with his back to the viewer and looks back over his shoulder, drawing an unexpected level of attention to his slim build and long legs. He raises a wine flask to his face, drawing further attention to his shoulders.
- And have you prepared the woodcut of the hunter with his dog?
- Yep, all here boss
- And it's just a regular woodcut of a hunter with his dog, yes?
- Yeah yeah sure nothing sexy and coquettish about this hunter with extra emphasis on the back and legs and a dainty little finger absolutely not.
Pleased to report some swan-tastic action over in the #palaeography realm of Bluesky today 🦢

Coral background with faint heart illustrations. A glossy male Blackbird with a bright yellow bill faces left. Large title reads: “Birds as bad exes*” Smaller text reads: “*Yes, you read that right.”
Happy Valentine’s Day, from us to you. Tag your exes. Xoxox
Animal writing fans will see this and think "hell yeah"
Illustration of a fish that is supposed to look like a bishop. It stands on two legs and lifts three fingers as in a greeting whilst grinning in a relaxed way. From: The Workes of that famous Chirurgion Ambrose Parey, 1634, Lib.25, p. 1002.

More Lady Anne Southwell drip feed (from meditation on the 8th commandment):
Methinks my neighbour’s dog that barks at me/And his own tongue that doggedly doth rail/Is all alike, I can no difference see -/Both with confused noises my ears assail”
"Thank you!"
See, what happens when you're not in academia circles full time and out of the loop is that you miss cfps for conferences like this which look sick AF & you literally have work on nonhuman resistance and (in)justice in the book project
Positively frothing with FOMO 😭 looks incredible!
