I still mutter "Wilt...Chamberlain" to myself every time I sign a document

I thought I didn't like alt-country, but after listening to this Old 97s album and some (non-bracket related) Lucero, I think maybe I just don't like Wilco. I'm normally here for electronic weirdness but I mostly found this Knife album grating, although it grew on me a bit at the end. Voted Old 97s.
I wish I was joking when I say this was my only prior knowledge of the Old 97's.

Do not believe what the instructions say about starting with the "family game"! The game is simply boring without the occupations. It's a solid worker placement game, with fun engine-building elements. Set-up and admin is a bit fussy, though.
Oh, I love all of those bands - I saw Norma Jean, like, 15 months ago or something (although I was mainly there for Darkest Hour, who were definitely not a Christian band).
It was even worse in hardcore/metal at the time given that it's generally harder to make out the lyrics, to the point that some consider "Botch worship" (like, religious music influenced by the band Botch) to be its own genre!
(In case you're curious, none of my favorites are in the bracket unless you're being very broad and counting Lightning Bolt)
Complaining about voices in a match-up with Tom DeLonge without mentioning him is wild, I know. In as much as Blink were a punk band at this point, this wouldn't make my top 10 punk albums of this year (maybe 20 depending on how loosely you define it), but I still enjoyed it more.
Take Offs And Landings was the 1st album of this tournament that I've been frustrated by - it had moments that felt like something I would like quite a bit, but then the dude would start singing or she'd revert to the twee voice and it would just take me out of it.
A nice thought, but it wasn't enough to save Iowa ("I Am Hated" was on there too lol)
I was playing stuff from the Cowabunga Collection last night, saw NES TMNT and just said "Absolutely not, never again" lol
I'll see it through to the end, but not a great sign for Elbow that I checked how much was left on the album on the 2nd song.
I'm a rock/metal player so I'm not a great judge of fingerstyle playing difficulty, but that one looks like an absolute bear. Probably 2-ish years of dedicated fingerstyle training, longer if you're also learning more general guitar techniques. It's a great song, though!
I forgot "From Enslavement to Obliteration" was from '88, that's probably my favorite Napalm Death record. Really looking forward to it getting knocked out round one if it makes the bracket at all lol
If the hardcore bands guitarist looks like this, you’re gonna die in that pit
Thanks for this, was literally just sitting here wondering why the sirens were going in the middle of the month
"Someone tried to strangle Sneako", "Clavicular just had a drug overdose", I refuse to believe that understanding any of these headlines is better for me than chain-smoking
we should officially put John Carpenter in the "leave the poor guy alone quit asking him about 40 year old shit" category along with Alan Moore
A slip mat for a record player featuring Homestar Runner character The Cheat wearing headphones, under colorful text stating "fhqwghads".
I should not be trusted with the kind of money they give adults lol
[Meatwad from ATHF] You know, Geddy Lee? From Rush? Of salesmen? Of salesmen!
I'm going to see Bring Me The Horizon next month, so really you could pick anything by them and I probably like it despite it not being very good, but let's go with "LosT" since I listened to it today
controversial take but bass clef is the real one. treble clef sits on a throne of lies. "every good boy does fine" DOES HE? DOES HE NOW? ARE YOU SURE?
I was forced to defend Converge the other day in the music poll thing I participate in, and I really resented it, because they're never my first choice to listen to but they were standing in for "heavy music as a concept" so I had to step in
I love Mox's giddy hopping, like even he's like "holy shit this guy is strong" lol
The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.
Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

idk man
Better not say that shit around my wife or oldest child - they were their number one and two listeners on Tidal, respectively. (This is not a bit.)
Just gonna re-up this old thread from after I watched Interstella 5555 re: today's @bestalbumbrackets.bsky.social contest
