Spent some time with FitXR’s new Flow Studio.
Feels less like a new feature and more like something built to keep a routine going.
Makes a lot of sense if you’re unsure about Supernatural long term. And takes advantage of FitXR's rich art style.

With all the NASA Artemis excitement, I figured I’d work from the “captain’s seat” today.
I’m not a developer or engineer. Just someone who tried this and realized virtual screens are the way.
This is already changing how I work.
Not someday. Right now.

The VR version of the best hobbies are only a decade old and face a tremendous marketing problem. They have to reach fans of the hobby where they play or congregate, adding targeting costs while (as lone devs) simultaneously building core features.

You packed wrong. Less underwear, more VR! 😎
Episode 3 of my podcast is up.
I hadn’t used virtual screens until I tried Vision Pro when it first came out. That changed pretty quickly.
Got me thinking about what Apple actually did here. Curious how others see it.

New piece is up on UploadVR.
Beat The Beats by @parallelcircles.bsky.social isn’t really a straight fitness app or a pure rhythm game. It kind of sits in between, and that’s what makes it interesting. 👀👇
Episode 2 of my podcast is up.
I just hit 104 straight weeks hitting my VR fitness goals. Two years. It got me thinking about why VR fitness seems to actually stick for people in a way a lot of other VR use cases don’t.

Sometimes there’s no substitute for the right tool.
My father-in-law “loaned” me this chainsaw years ago knowing full well it probably wasn’t coming back.
Thinking about him today.
Good chapter header here from Mark Schramm for a potential book about VR.
You could do much worse as far as personal missions go, just:

Most esports involve watching people behind monitors.
At a Global Gaming League event, the main event was VR boxing in Thrill of the Fight 2.
It raises an interesting question: can VR actually work as a spectator sport?
I wrote about it for UploadVR 🥊
If true this is an egregious failure of basic business planning. Gabe has enough yachts to afford some consumer research and business analysts. You don’t announce a product and then negotiate with the supply chain.
AWE now has an art festival listing, but I'm not sure if film made with VR/AR is accepted. I submitted anyway.
You should send your work if you make XR-involved art: www.awexr.com/art-festival
Here is my VR podcast feed, of recently updated podcasts.
Scrolling my #VR feeds tonight feels like a better use of my time than watching this performative bullshit.

Best Quest 3 soft head straps for reclined + lying down use.
Comfort matters more than people think, especially for movies and “lean back” VR.

Happy Super Bowl to those who celebrate 🎉 🏈
I spoke with @ianhamilton.net on getting fired from UploadVR, and the potential AI bot author that catalyzed a fundamental disagreement. He claims as editor in chief that he would’ve not had any say or oversight over disclosed AI bots rewriting press releases. More:

Apple Vision Pro turns 2 today.
I think they added rings around Jupiter recently, one of many subtle updates that sometimes require a double take to notice.

The surface keyboard and trackpad on v85 is pretty amazing. It’s a 🤯 moment when the cursor just works on your PC.
😳
My second independent piece of writing is asking the question of @buddingmonkey.bsky.social:
When do we get to 1 billion people in VR headsets? open.substack.com/pub/goodvr/p...
Wish I was able to attend a session. I just picked up Vermillion and it’s so much fun.
🤔
That’s actually pretty funny. Sorry my friend. You’ve been a terrific mentor and sounding board for me and my writing. I appreciate you more than you know. 🫡
I'm not just interviewing people in VR-first games, I'm interested in the internet itself ("Painting The Internet", duh!).
If you do something cool in a gaming community and that game allows for custom map uploads, I might want to paint you. DM me! See pinned post for what the project looks like.
A traditional artist embarks on a journey to paint the internet.
"Painting The Internet" goes live Weds January 28th.
