Tired and emotional this week in the build up to my week off. I seem to have started binging Stacey Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out, which I thought was going to make me angry - a personal attack on people (like me) with stuff.
Have instead cried at least once every episode so far. It’s lovely.

Tales of the Suburbs by John Grindrod audiobook
Me down a gulley, with bright sky behind me, looking red faced but rather pleased.
2nd run - looks like I might stick at this? Soundtracked with Tales of the Suburbs, which I’ve been looking forward to, seen loads of people reading and have enjoyed this weekend.
Covered 1/3 of a mile longer than last week, so onwards and upwards (although I am sticking to flat routes for now).

Morning!
Scrolled a bit too fast and read ‘Gay Heron Watchpoint’.
Toasting our first pod cast and full of future plans, cheers everybody! 🍻
It is work!
You’re quiet yourself, Tim. I found you need to post more regularly on here - because of the lack of algorithm, it’s unlikely even all your followers will see posts. So having something to say or share most days helps. Find more people to follow, then you’ll have more conversations to join in with.
Imagining elephants hitting the ceiling.
This is a lovely piece from earlier this week.
Aaaand now I want to reread Davison’s memoirs. When I had a mass disposal of autobiographies a few years ago, Is There Life Outside the Box? was among a handful I chose to keep.
Egan’s Hog and his gang admire their nicked jewellery with their fence.
Lennox (Timothy West) stands over Ackerman (Donald Burton) as Greenwood (Brian McDermott) harshly presses a gun to his face.
Ackerman points a pistol off camera.
Hog points a gun at Ryan (Godfrey Quigley) as Izzard (Alan Browning) stands by and 2 heavies grip Ackerman.
Having a great time rewatching Big Breadwinner Hog. It’s a gripping gangland story: Peter Egan’s hippie gang trying to take over Timothy West’s old guard.
I’m most invested in blackmailed Ackerman - the serial’s sole good bloke.
Lovely studio direction, night shoots and plenty of location filming.
I did see an episode of that some years ago, and The Fellows is sat on my shelf to get to one day…
I realised I had never got around to Spindoe and after reading Hog’s viewing notes I do rather fancy that after this rewatch.

Pete’s my main reference point but I’m not sure he’s that close these days seeing as he emigrated to the other side of the Midlands many years ago. Maybe it’s one only locals can really pick up on?
Sometimes I’m sure my accent isn’t noticeable, then I listen back and pick up on pronunciations!
I’ve really enjoyed Oliver Savell in Changing Ends, Alan Carr’s sitcom based on his 80s youth. Young lad clearly fancied spending more time in the 80s!
They rather bury the fact that the loan scheme was only available on new builds, which have a far more costly entry point level. Currently looking to buy my first home and I could not afford even the smallest, cheapest new build.
The network effect rings true for: I enjoyed my pub job, but working every weekend began to grate when virtually all my friends worked in the week. Lots of things I wanted to do were only possible at weekends.
My brother has always worked shifts and likes the chance to avoid busy weekend crowds.

Congratulations mate! Welcome to the world of intense admin and chasing solicitors. We can toast one another at some point 🥂
Were you a field trip arsonist, a naive intellectual snob, or a quipsome clever clogs?
For me Adrian Mole is the most realistic depiction of adolescence because he's so completely normal... right?
“Tell the Lord Privy Seal that I’m sealed in the privy and I can only deal with one shit at a time.”
Angie is smiling while grabbing Den by the scruff of the neck in the back of the pub.
I have been dipping back into EastEnders from the start. Are they being sponsored by Wimbledon? Mentions are getting dropped into every episode. You can easily date which weeks these went out!
Thanks to this podcast I could be even more confident knowing an answer on The Chase.
The café doors are open!
Looking forward to having people join me and @quiteamess.bsky.social for lots of lovely telly chat over the next few months 😁📺
I have gone in from the start with the 2 Mother Earth sets followed by the Mars sets. I’d really recommend Mother Earth. Good stories and a nice intro to some new regular characters.
I was similarly overwhelmed when I saw them on offer at last year’s Big Finish day, then got a download deal.
