🌹 Former Labour Leader Lord Neil Kinnock calls for Proportional Representation!
In an interview with @emmaburnell.bsky.social for @thefabians.bsky.social & @labourlist.bsky.social on Monday, he said electoral reform was "crucial" to renew British democracy for the 21st century.

Mandelson wants the BBC to report that he denies everything, but for some reason does not want to go on the record denying everything.
Hot Take 2: if this is Mandelson's position, there is no reason for him not to issue a statement to this effect. If he has not issued a statement to this effect, the BBC's "understanding" of his actual position may be inaccurate. Stop letting people play this game.
Just a quick note to @greenparty.org.uk and @greenpartyhan.bsky.social - I was not consulted on being quoted on your leaflets and I have not endorsed your campaign (or any campaign in this seat). I think this note, like the bar chart next to it, is misleading and out of context.
Good to be out chatting with residents on a cold but beautifully sunny day in the Harrow Road with Queen’s Park Labour friends Cllr Steve Crabb, Marc Harris and @redstarneil.bsky.social

The Conservatives are now a far-right party.
It will be tempting to engage with this policy on practicalities: Windrush times a hundred.
Don't. Engage on the reprehensible ethics of wanting to deport people who've lived lawful, blameless lives just because they're poor (and mostly not white).
And as recently as 6 years ago I could go and live in 30ish countries across Europe
This is important news

After years of making the running on immigration, Farage may this week have handed the initiative back to his opponents'. @robfordmancs.bsky.social for @ukandeu.bsky.social on the unpopularity of Reform's proposals on ILR ukandeu.ac.uk/reforms-radi...
I'll have more to say on Reform's proposals to scrap ILR at some point but for now I'll just note this - anyone telling you this is a popular idea doesn't know the polling. Overwhelming majority of public back giving people who work and pay taxes most or all rights after 5 years or less
Thousands of Londoners have indefinite leave to remain.
They have legal rights and are our friends, neighbours and colleagues, contributing hugely to our city.
Threatening to deport people living and working here legally is unacceptable.
Seriously. A one-hour Party Political Broadcast. Followed at the top of the next hour with top story billing and a highlights package.
Exactly how will this be "balanced" across their coverage?
Where is Ofcom? Where is Nandy?
A lot of sensible people get squeamish at labelling Nigel Farage “far-right”, but his policy of cancelling the legal status of tens of thousands of settled immigrants can not be politically described as anything else.
Reform are campaigning on a policy of cruelty & xenophobia.
How can there be branches of a party that doesn’t exist?
This is brilliant - and actually rather useful for anyone teaching methods (correlation isn't causation etc.) to undergraduates.
Cllr Lesley Smith, Georgia Gould MP, Cllr Neil Nerva and Marc Harris at Queen’s Park Day, Brent
To anyone who doesn’t think that neighbourliness and community exists in London you missed a fantastic example at #QueensParkDay all put on by local residents. Great to meet many of them with @georgiagould.bsky.social and @redstarneil.bsky.social and a huge thank you to the QPARA volunteers.
The DUP’s support for Brexit, then hard Brexit, then Johnson (who betrayed them as he betrays everyone), and now ECHR-exit is perhaps the most obviously self-harming run of decisions that any democratic political party has ever taken.
The tracks are laid, the commuters are ready - all we need now is the green light. 🚦🚃
Here's why we're asking for a new Overground line for West London, from Hendon to Harlesden to Hounslow. 👇📰

Teachers are so often a glue that holds society together.
any US congressman who is fully across a row between the Nottingham Post and Nottinghamshire council is welcome to holiday in the Cotswolds AT ANY TIME, and we will not refuse to serve him in our farm shops
Democrat @raskin.house.gov excoriates Nigel Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events:
"I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"
This is my flag.
Like all right-wing nationalists, Farage's will not give up power once he has it. For that reason, being wrong about everything does not worry him in the slightest. The same applies to Robert Jenrick. These people do not believe in or feel constrained by liberal democracy. They are Orbánists.
