I admittedly never knew much about the Tomodachi series to begin with, and based on all of the posts I've seen about Living the Dream, I still have no idea what it's actually supposed to be about beyond the character creator aspect (and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible).

On that note, if anybody has any good leads/resources/advice on building a new PC (affordably) in the current market, I'd highly appreciate it! At best, I know most people point to pcpartpicker, but that's all I've got for now.
If nothing else, I'll keep using this one until it dies, whether that's a week from now or a year from now! At that point, my hand will be forced either way.
I *think* I fixed my recent streaming PC issues, which is good in the short term, but I ultimately think this desktop's days are numbered. With the PC market being what it is now, and my personal circumstances, I'm not sure when I can feasibly build a new one, but it's on my radar now more than ever

I think it's an interesting question, a deeper cut than many other submitted questions. Some people who follow me didn't know about 1.5 until my thread. I've been dying to see Suda talk about The Outer Rim, too, but I wonder if that is too obscure for anyone to ask about (if Suda even remembers it)
(On that note, I find it morbidly funny how Suda matter-of-factly says that "the matter was sorted" here through *decapitation*.)
Marvelous Europe interviewed Suda 51 with questions taken from Twitter users, from October 2022 (https://twitter.com/marvelouseurope/status/1579819141762273291) Question from [Shankey, @lovesecretdesire.bsky.social]: What's up with the Travis doppelganger in No More Heroes 1.5? Is it supposed to be a metaphor or perhaps some idea that never fully came into fruition in No More Heroes 2? Suda 51: "Fake Travis" appeared as an assassin in 1.5 He wasn't actually Travis' doppelganger; he was a second-rate assassin that showed up copying Travis. In the world of 1.5, he got decapitated and the matter was sorted.
One of the few (if not only) times Suda has been asked about NMH 1.5 to my knowledge: In October 2022, Marvelous Europe interviewed Suda 51 with questions taken from Twitter users, and @lovesecretdesire.bsky.social asked about the Travis copycat that briefly appears at the end of the comic.
The NMH 1.5 movie, for instance, is set between the first and second games, and is meant to bridge the gap between the two. Suda only finished the writing the script for the movie a few weeks prior, and the entire affair is hush-hush enough that not many people at GhM appear to know what the movie is about.
Suda apparently wrote it a few weeks before this July 2010 article, meaning he wrote it *after* NMH2 had already been released in North America (and possibly Europe), and he kept it "hush-hush" from most GHM staff.

I wouldn't even say it's bad, just bewildering. Suda hasn't said much about it, likely since it was originally an obscure feature on the JP Hopper's Edition until the English remaster. At the very least, I'm happy that GHM remembered it all, let alone remastered it with new voice acting.
NMH 1.5 is the one piece of the series that still confounds me. Despite being an interquel between the first two games, it doesn't quite gel with NMH2 in tone/continuity, and it doesn't do much to recontextualize it, either. At best, to me, it's just the footnote explaining what happened to Lovikov.

I've been wearing a face mask at work and most public places consistently since 2020, and besides a few curious comments, most people don't care. That said, I almost wish someone would get on my case, because I haven't had the chance to say "I'm not a monster, it's only a mask."

[Suda 51] Because I couldn't give a lot of input for Twilight Syndrome, I wanted to put a lot into Moonlight Syndrome. Twilight was a horror game, but I thought that humans were scarier than ghosts. So that's why Moonlight Syndrome is psychological horror.
How does making modern action games compare to making text-heavy adventure games like The Silver Case or Flower, Sun, and Rain? Do you feel that you have more or less freedom? [Suda 51] At the beginning, we had very limited staff. When you create action games, you really need know-how and experience. It's not just about having time or money. At the beginning, Grasshopper didn't have those. What we could create was rather limited, so we came up with The Silver Case first. But after that, when we worked on Flower, Sun, and Rain, we did more of an action-slash-adventure. And after that we did Killer7. So the staff grew, and the studio grew, and we shifted to action games. I always wanted to create action games, so the shift toward action games was natural.
Yes, No More Heroes made it to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Did you have input about it? [Suda 51] I was there, but I couldn't get involved too much. Do you prefer that people play the Wii version, then? [Suda 51] The Wii version, definitely. One hundred percent.
Grasshopper made but never released a Silver Case port for the DS, and later the 3DS. How is it different from the PlayStation version? Did you add anything to the plot? Did Masahi Ooka work on the DS version? [Suda 51] Well, the interface had to change a bit for the DS touchscreen. At the same time, in order to release it, the game needed to be more complete. Because it was our debut title, I really wanted it to be better before shipping, so I figured we needed more time. There was no extra storyline. Ooka created a version of Silver Case, 25 Ward for cell phones, so there wasn't a need to add anything to the original.
Other good tidbits:
So what might happen to Travis in No More Heroes 3? Will he continue to grow or fall back into his old ways? [Suda 51] My image is that he'd be living in a place where not many people would reach him, and it would be a peaceful life. And the story starts from there…
I frequently think about this Suda 51 interview from *2015* where Suda basically describes the conceit of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, well before the game was even announced. www.animenewsnetwork.com/the-x-button...

Thinking about Frank Miller's Daredevil, and issue #191 "Roulette" is still my favorite part of his run. I had already known about the issue well before ever touching a Daredevil comic, and I was still left reeling.
OSV: Hello Yamaoka-san. So the biggest news with you is that you recently left Konami after working there for many years to join Grasshopper Manufacture. How did you come to this decision? Yamaoka: It was actually surprising to me that this was such big news. In America, it seems pretty common for people to move around between companies. I’ve always loved Grasshopper games, and I’ve known Suda-san in private, as we have gone out drinking often. That’s how I ended up joining.
OSV: A big questions that your fans have is what will happen to the Silent Hill series in your absence. You’ve acted as the series producer for the core series in the past, and the composer for even longer. What do you think will happen to the series, and can we expect to see you moonlighting over at Konami to work on the Silent Hill series in the future? Yamaoka: It’s not like I dislike the franchise now that I’m not at Konami, so if they ask me to contribute, I’ll definitely consider it. OSV: You’ve said in the past that you’re the only person who can write music for Silent Hill, and the day you’re willing to turn it over to another composer is the day that Silent Hill has changed so much from its original vision that it’s no longer Silent Hill in your mind. Has the series reached this point? Are you ready to hand off the torch? Yamaoka: I think the franchise is following its path. I wouldn’t try to keep anyone from working on the game’s music whether or not the series had changed.
OSV: Did you contribute any music for the recent release of No More Heroes 2? We had heard that you contributed some music, but you joined so late that you weren’t included in the credits. Yamaoka: Yes, I contributed one track to the game. OSV: Do you recall which track it was? I just finished the game, and would love to know which one. Yamaoka: Well, it’s actually credited, but not under my name. OSV: Like a pseudonym? Yamaoka: Yes.
OSV: Can you tell us about title you’re working on at this time? We’ve been told you’re working on the music for a game that’s being published by EA. Can you tell us about the musical direction at this time, or how much music you’ll be writing? Yamaoka: I’m doing the sound design and composing for this title, and it’s not determined at this point what direction I’ll go, but later on I’ll have a more solid idea of what it’s going to be.
Here's an interview of Akira Yamaoka from 2010, having just left Konami to join Grasshopper Manufacture. He found it surprising that his departure from Konami was "big news." He also talks about the possibility of returning to Silent Hill. About that... www.originalsoundversion.com/gdc-2010-aki...

Ikaruga TATE mode, with black bars
Ikaruga TATE mode, with Killer7 curtains
On a related note, trying to figure out Ikaruga TATE mode with OBS, though to be clear, I won't be streaming Ikaruga first. Not sure which option to go with, the black bars or the Killer7 curtains. Maybe if I just asked all of my viewers to turn the screens vertically, it would be a non-issue.
I swear, I find this all so frustrating that if the prices of ~everything~ weren't so terrible right now, I would have started building a new PC ages ago...
