This suggests that motor improvements may occur through other mechanisms. These could include changes in intracortical networks, strengthening of descending pathways, or other avenues, and we look forward to conducting further studies in this area.

I'm happy to share our new paper examining potential mechanisms for upper limb motor recovery. Intervention-related improvements in upper limb function were not consistently associated with a change in motor cortex map volume in the ipsilesional hemisphere.
