That's the curse. It turns out you can make a good one, but only if you set it in a side universe such that it will never be more than a side movie to a larger franchise.

You'd have to get very small indeed before you start to run out of men who can compete in the class, especially since in theory this would include trans men! We already know that even if a group with an advantage is 1% of the population, they will dominate competitively; that's how basketball works
at which point the question is, why are we even bothering? Trans people simply are not numerous enough for it to matter much that our distribution of height/size/proportion makes us a bit more likely to be an advantaged outlier.
If you are considering height/weight classes, then presumably you have accepted that there is no "fairness" difference between a cis woman who is 6 feet tall because her dad and mom are 6'6" and 5'11" and a trans woman whose dad and mom are 6'0" and 5'6" but underwent a testosterone puberty...
The strongest case for sex-based divisions in sports is that men have naturally occuring high levels of a performance enhancing steroid. Height/weight classes would fail to account for that. You'd just have men dominating each tier for nearly every event where physical strength or endurance matter.
Did you know that when I went to school in Texas, in the 80s, it almost led then nation for educational quality? Like, just behind MA, both on the HS and University level.
Hard to imagine, now.
it's just people with ADHD recasting their disability as a virtue. relax
This makes Shane relatable which in turn makes the show profoundly uncomfortable for me to watch. If it was just eye candy of two unobtainably hot men maybe I could get into it
"hey United States, I like what you did with that reality TV president. Now check out my political satire sitcom prime minister"
i have said this before but it is really funny how starmer looks like an artistsβ caricature of a hapless british prime minister www.huffpost.com/entry/britai...
I don't think defining conservatism to exclude fascism and then declaring that it therefore isn't fascist is a particularly interesting argument, and is ultimately too shallow an investigation of real world ideological propensities.
Ultimately this starts to sound very close to the usual casting of conservatives as noble savages, not morally culpable for the consequences of their words or actions.
I don't think "they joined coalition with fascism not understanding what fascism meant" is the defense against conservatives being prone to fascism that you think it is
I don't think that's a persuasive explanation for why monarchists decided to let Hitler torch the country rather than share power with social democrats.
Even if it's a reasonable move, it doesn't deal with conservatives having an excessive tendency to become fascists. That alone undermined the case that they are separate and unrelated. You make a gesture to the UK Labour party doing the same thing, but arguably those are ideological conservatives!
I don't think this credibly accounts for conservatives joining coalition with fascists, which is happening today and is how Hitler took power. Seems you rely on a no true scotsman where conservatives who do this suddenly don't count as conservative anymore. I don't think that's right.
I went to the emergency room on a few months ago and when they asked me to do a pregnancy test I just peed in the cup instead of explaining why I couldn't be pregnant for this exact reason.
There were definitely informal ideological vetting networks for FedSoc-connected judges when I was in law school a decade ago. Students who joined FedSoc or the schools conservative law journal would not get access to that pipeline of jobs if ID'd as a RINO by peers.
Important context here is this is about conservative judges hiring ideologically. There were definitely informal ideological vetting networks for FedSoc-connected judges when I was in law school a decade ago.
An "I believe" sticker with various symbols and the accompanying slogans: Black Lives Matter; Science is Real; Love is Love; Women have the Right to Choose; Trans Rights are Human Rights; Diversity Makes Us Stronger; The American body politic must be purged of fascism and reaction with the purifying flames of a Second Reconstruction; Kindness is everything.
Unironically my ideology (apart from a very pedantic philosophy of science point).
Incredible art
she is amazing, enjoy!
My preferred analogy: gradually accelerating a vehicle to incredible high speeds doesn't bother anyone. Do it too quickly and they black out/die
you'd think zero-sum thinking and scarcity denial are contradictory, and you'd be right, but that ain't stopping anyone
Loving being "on the same team" of people who publish sanitized apologia for alignment with actual fascist eliminationists on trans rights and then being told that I need just to understand the noble savages of Reasonable Conservatism when I was raised evangelical and was in FedSoc in law school.
paradox brain might be too generous for these morons because even a CK2-obssessed brain would understand warscore mechanics well enough to know not to attack someone whose armies you can't destroy and whose land you can't capture
"look I can just use magic to make myself a girl, I would be 100% female right?"
"Are you doing it as part of an evil scheme to assist Wizard Hitler in breaking into the castle to kill Wizard Hindenberg?"
"No"
"What about as part of a wacky decoy scheme?"
"No"
"To Azkaban with this pervert!"
I don't know if I ever really pictured my adult years. I tried, but it was always just blank. Even when I was an adult, my brain just didn't like thinking about where my life would be as an older man.
So did I picture that I would be a woman in a serious relationship with a man? Definitely not !
And this becomes much more doable if we get some supposed-to-be-safe-R flips in the Senate this year. The math gets very unfavorable in 2028 otherwise.
