Figure shows event-study estimates of the effect of platform entry on annual crime rates across French police jurisdictions, for individuals aged 15–54. The vertical dashed line marks the year of platform entry. Post-entry percentage changes shown below each panel.

Food delivery platforms lower barriers to legal work for disadvantaged groups. Using the staggered rollout of Deliveroo and Uber Eats across France, this column shows how expanding access to legal income for such groups can reduce crime even when the jobs are temporary, flexible, and low-paid. The policy goal should be to pair accessible entry-level work with pathways to skill development and stable employment.

Great way to close the #iflame seminar series @ieseg.fr for 2025: @davidajaeger.bsky.social presented an interesting & timely paper on grant assignment mechanisms. Interesting finding-women choose partial randomization vs traditional rankings more often than men. #econsky #grants #seminars

Now a great presentation by @farahzadishadi.bsky.social on marriage migration.
Interesting finding: muslims choose to marry abroad not to gain from migration but finding a partner from the same ethnicity and religion.
Check out her work.

This is the saddest news I could have received. A profound loss for the entire community. You don’t need to meet someone in person to recognize their impact, as her work spoke volumes. She was a role model to many. Condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. RIP #ghazalaazmat

It doesn't surprise me. There are also politicians who pay thousands to have just a photo with Trump and use it politically in their country to convince the electorate that they have his support. I heard about dinners too but didn’t know the price...

Devastating news at IZA yesterday. More than 25 years of hard work, earned reputation, and valuable institutional knowledge and public good provision wiped out with a single stroke. It’s hard to find the words.

I believe that all affiliates who received the email yesterday had a thought for the IZA personnel. I still hope that something can be done to not lose all the valuable know-how at IZA. Bon courage!

IZA is closing as of December 31, 2025.

It's a very sad day. Just notified that @iza.org is closing its doors as of 31 December 2025. At a time when labor is under attack and technological change moves at an ever-faster pace, I can't help but think that this is a short-sighted decision. My heart goes out to those folks who work there.

I was about to post it too. This is shocking!
