Totally fair point lol

I wouldn't get too far in a hole saying Clinton wouldn't behave similarly to Biden in the same circumstances lol, I mean he refers to the West Bank as "Judah and Samaria." Agree with your broader point of course, though ultimately Biden was the guy in office so the thought experiments are that to me

Again, they can't maintain the occupation w/o the sorts of arms the US provides. They would not have bunker busters, fighter jets, guided missiles, the Iron Dome, etc. They move on Gaza and the West Bank with full force *right now,* and that's because they have those.

Again, this isn't some sort of academic point, open to dispute- Israeli and American leaders have in public and private made the same claim that I'm making.

I agree that estimating military aid is potentially deceptive. You're ignoring the second part of what I said, however, which is that Israel does not have the production capacity for the sorts of weapons the US sends to it, without which it would not be able to maintain the occupation.

Alright, not worth continuing on if you really think *conditioning* aid wasn't on the table, particularly after US public opinion rapidly turned on funding the war. Not only is lack of permission structure's not an excuse, but one did exist within a few months. But I'm not gonna change your mind.

We're over two years into the genocide in Gaza; I don't understand how anybody can watch that and still avoid even a cursory education on the US-Israeli dynamic, much less claim authority on it without that education.

The United States provides 70-80% of all military aid to Israel, which does not have independent arms capacity; we can make virtually any demand of the Israelis we want. Netanyahu, Begin and other Israeli PMs have said as much in private and public. Respectfully, you do not understand the dynamic.

Agreed, Van Hollen would easily have my vote in an AOC-less primary

Workers are getting fired, placed on leave over Charlie Kirk posts Reactions to the conservative activist’s killing have become a litmus test for employers’ tolerance for political speech by employees, in public and private.

Ezra Klein should rest easy that Charlie Kirk's views on free speech are truly being honored in the aftermath of his death

JUSTE AVANT LA NUIT (1971)

JUSTE AVANT LA NUIT (1971)

In particular, my estimation of 1971's JUSTE AVANTE LA NUIT has skyrocketed, I think just because I've been able to shake off glib characterizations of Chabrol as black humored class warrior (definitely a strong element of his character, but his films shouldn't be reduced to this).

Had the extremely pleasurable experience this month of revisiting (and in the case of LA FEMME INFIDÈLE, viewing for the first time) Claude Chabrol's incredible run of five films from 1969-1971. All much superior DVD / rips than I had found for my last viewings.
