Big agree! Reading Lonesome Dove is like listening to my grandfather and uncles talk to each other.

Oh, I’ll check it out! I think being from Texas and NOT being a “traditionally proud” Texan has definitely made me reticent to read westerns. Don’t know if this has broken that for me, but I’m more inclined now I reckon.

I have reached the last couple hundred pages of Lonesome Dove. I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but it’s been enjoyable (?) mostly? Far more content warnings than I thought.
It’s definitely a Big Book. I like Big Books but have never read a western.

Celebrated my spouse’s birthday this weekend! She’s the best.
Got it! I’ll find em!
Mmmmmm hexes!
No no no. Don’t encourage podcasting.
I remember getting stuck a few times but perseverance prevailed!
Which podcasts? Would love to hear
Right??
Man, it’s okay. I think it’s more of an ego hit than anything.
Thanks, Spencer. Positively wild how much this process has fed into feelings of inadequacy when I know it’s not true nor reflective of me and my abilities.
We’ll see what comes about in the future.
Looks like I’ll continue contracting work for the next year. Hopefully it’ll give me time to work on these four chapters and a book proposal I have out.
Hoping for a better shot in the next round or two.
Think I can close the door on this year’s higher education hiring cycle. There might be a chance for a postdoc, but I’m not holding my breath.
I was more selective in applying than some of my friends, but I went 0/27. Made it to the 2nd round of 1 position before funding got cut.
Rough time.
Oh no! Safe travels for the rest of the way!
the human made icon
I want to be a better steward for the Human Made icon. If you have any ideas on how I can get the word out for it more please let me know. Do you think game retailers would be interested in stickers they could pass out? folks interested in pins? What can I do to support you using this icon? a zine?
Super fun!
This looks so good!

So you’re saying I should put more stuff on itch?
I don’t know what to do with followers. I have 770 of them.
I think Jelly should!
Oh hey
Would love to see it
When I think of solo RPGs, I want something different, something that either sets or breaks the mold.
Two titles come to mind. Both of which have been instrumental in my own works:
Variations on Your Body by @lackingceremony.bsky.social
Wait for Me by @jeeyon.bsky.social & @kevinkulp.bsky.social
Almost 2,000 words written. Only probably another 4,500 more to go.
This will also be my first (slightly) larger-format zine, taking a 5.5x8.5" size format instead of my typical A6. I have much more space to use, so I'm being a bit wordier than I usually am.

That’s such a great idea! As a non-medical doctor, I’d be worried they’d think I would know more than I do.
There are a lot of writers I would like to read more of, but the moment I see "Substack" I'm like, er, well that's too bad.
If you are on Substack and wondering why, here's a primer, with some options for other platforms.

Morning interaction today.
1. Orders food from a restaurant online to pick up.
2. Walks in.
3. “I placed an online order.”
4. “Oh yeah! For Ricky, right?”
5. “Ah no? For Travis.”
6. Hands me food and I leave.
I think I’m just gonna start making up names for people now.
