Maybe ageing happens in base [10+(calendar year)/2000]..?
I think I've overexplained the bit.

every time I eat ethiopian food

Really weird to be scrolling my feed and getting jumpscared by screenshots of my old handiwork.
Just so long as Green Day don't get any ideas.
*nods with gravitas*
What did I do to deserve this?
I have fought this exact fight in a professional context, where the interests of customers and creators were in (gentle) tension, & I could not agree with this more.
@iame.li very happy to chat if my perspective can be of any help! But it basically boils down to "what are you trying to communicate"
3 stars is good and if you say it's bad because it's a 6/10 when converting to a 10-point scale, that's because you're using a 10-point scale which is an inferior metric of appraisal
Beautiful writeup :) really happy to have crossed paths with you!
Loved this talk, one of my faves from the entire conference!
Feel really bad for community members who had just spent months as unofficial volunteer devs trying to pull this game's pvp into a better state, only to now find out that any chance of injecting new life or drumming up renewed interest in this game has been effectively crushed.
Spreading the good word 🙌
I literally involuntarily said "oh no" out loud in a public space
My biggest regret from the conference was not getting in on this
I so badly miss not feeling conflicted.
This isn't meant as a callout or anything, I just want to gently push back on the logic that we have a tool tainted in its inception, but now all that is left to do is attempt to use if for good as much as we can. We are still very much in the "contributing to its creation and growth" phase.
I understand this reasoning in the abstract, but concretely the harms being caused by this technology are very much ongoing and people's use, financing and evangelising of this technology is the fuel these companies use to press on.
Folks doing this now are *part of* the tragic origin.
mm. While reading this i am thinking about a piece that
@mariaa.bsky.social linked yesterday to by
@tarakiyee.bsky.social on the Audrey Lorde quote that "the masters tools will never dismantle the master's house", and it's original context.

I'm assuming stories like these might be what the previous commenter was referring to. Sadly, the math isn't getting there on its own.
Would read the heck out of a wrecka.ge post expanding on the wider frame, just saying.
It does very seriously feel like this will be a landmark case for the games industry and for online harassment more generally. The document Alyssa links here is also the first legal discussion of ChatGPT user logs I’ve ever read.
I urge you to open and read the attached letter on the quoted post.
This is an interesting example because we have chosen not to do unethical human experimentation even in cases where there's a strong belief it could produce outsized results—most people are not that utilitarian! And yet the negative externalities of the genAI gold rush are vast and continue unabated
Where do I learn this dark art?
Oh noo haha. So glad you made it, safe travels! ❤
