I went to uni in the early 2000’s. The wannabe politicians in student union politics suggested a pipeline of utter narcissists & twerps. That in combination with the pointless vicious factional fighting in both the Tories and Labour culled any decency or competence

Blue Labour is Reform adjacent - Starmer was a total idiot for being even in the same time zone as those nutcases

Took me two seconds to- in London 43% of cars are parked on street. Even houses that have driveways often don’t not have room for more than car. The vast majority of modern flat developments don’t have anywhere near enough parking. The vast majority of streets don’t have charging infrastructure.

You need to be either outside your house or very close. You can’t run a cable half way down the street

As long as you can park outside consistently outside your house. Most people cannot

Sorry you are correct

Car sales in general are struggling. EV sales are drastically below hoped in most markets. Hence why EV’s have got cheaper - the battery demand was meant to be a lot higher. Maybe the current crisis really changes things.

If you can do that great. We have off street parking and 90% of the time can’t park in front of the house. That’s most off street parking.

Which is not the vast majority of places - for most people off street means charging isn’t available. Prices charging tends to be bloody expensive and bloody inconvenient

It takes 5 mins to refill a petrol car. Most public chargers either cost a bomb for quick charging or you are stuck there for a long while

6 days ago 0 0 1 0

It’s mostly off street parking, which is is basically really difficult to charge from

You can refill a petrol car in say 5 mins. To charge your cheaply and conveniently takes longer or if u a fast charger at an official charging point costs and arm and a leg

But few actually accessible to people parking their cars, which is the problem

The problem is that the UK still has mostly off street parking and no where near enough charging infrastructure

It’s bloody stupid on the UK’s government part. If we end up locked out on data that would be a massive blow for UK service firms

I absolutely agree - but we need to be serious about it and the politicians need to explain that to the public

EU will not allow the UK to rejoin. UK is entirely too unstable and broke to be a candidate. To unscrew this will take a very long time

For homes this is fine but for industrial systems not do much. When you get into the depths of winter and you get 30 minutes of productive sun with no wind then its a problem.

It’s not in the French national interest so well yes

True, but pumped hydro is not nearly enough energy dense enough to deal with longer term storage. For balancing hour to hour or day day pumped hydro is fine but on a larger scale it will struggle

It wasn’t - Orsted went under as its maintenance costs were drastically higher than hoped and the return on capital of projects was drastically lower

The French nuclear plants have been essential for Europe. They are now frankly beyond end of life after being built in the 70’s/early 80’s. Many are about 40 years old

Green hydrogen was meant to be a solution to the intermittency problems of renewables as batteries are not a solution
