Labor in #SouthAustralia needs to understand that a simple measure like free or 50c public transport for at least a couple of months is not optional. It keeps PHON on the sidelines and better (can't say good) policy in the frame of reality. They learnt nothing last weekend I guess?

The rise of battery storage, and why the grid is rapidly passing gas! Although batteries still account for a modest share of total capacity, they are exerting a disproportionate influence in Australia's main grids.

Interesting read. The transition to renewables is getting harder to stop in spite of the major parties pushing gas (and coal in the case of the #LNP)

The AFR's 'No backward steps' article on Chris Bowen is typical right wing media slop that misses the point entirely and intentionally.

Reframing the climate "debate" in right-wing terms and demeaning what amounts to the little the ALP has done shows just how this system works.

No link even.

100% agree. The fact that generations of knowledge and thinking can be "vacuumed up" and used as a reason to suppress the poor (which is all of us at this point) speaks to a disconnect from humanity

Didn't Wilson also use the franking "campaign" to illegally gather contact information of rich retirees to market his funds to them? Maybe some of those people that invested have seen through it and he needs fresh victims?

How do you get to distance yourself from politically/ideologically loaded donations made by your husband, while wanting to directly influence the funding of institutions that have nothing to do with you?

Either Albanese knew about Segal's relationship with Advance, in which case his judgement is atrocious, or he failed to apply basic due diligence, in which case his judgement is atrocious.

But, no doubt, there'll be zero consequences. Most media won't even report it.

Jillian Segal and her cohorts, constantly reference something called "legitimate" or "acceptable" criticism of Israel.

Define exactly what "legitimate" or "acceptable" criticism of Israel is?

Where? When?

If you demand to legislate it, then you should be able to show examples of it - what is it?

After 45 years watching politics, I’m signing off with a final wish Putting aside the Coalition, let's focus on the new government: the one that has won an exceptionally large number of seats and which is probably already doing stuff that's affecting us voters.

"First, as an indulgence taken purely on behalf of readers, let us agree that the federal Coalition can be put aside. That seems only fair, given that the Coalition seems so determined to be irrelevant." #ouch

Murray Watt knocks back objections to Woodside’s North West Shelf extension and clears way for final decision Environment minister due to decide on controversial plan by end of the month in one of his first major challenges in new portfolio

Approving this would be the greatest giveaway of Australia’s natural resources ever.

$200 billion +of Australia’s gas given royalty free to Woodside.

It is against Australia’s national interest.

Selling Australians out to corporate interests.

Other countries tax their oil and gas industries. Australia subsidies ours.

Our research found while gas prices boomed in 2022, LNG companies made windfall gains of up to $40 billion. PRRT take increased by less than $1 billion.

It's time to fix the tax loopholes that Big Gas exploits. #auspol

I think it is partially due to the Senate not changing until 1 July. They will want to wait for the new Senators so legislation is easier to pass (theoretically). I'm hoping the Greens will hold them to account at least a bit
