A gas exploration drilling rig has appeared within sight of one of Australiaâs most loved natural wonders, the 12 Apostles.
We donât need to turn our iconic natural wonders into gas fields. We need to prioritise Australians over exports.

Just passing along some friendly advice on how to approach potential changes to the Australian health care system @drruthmitchell.bsky.social
This weekend we saw a rejection of Duttonâs far-right, pro-nuclear, Trumpian agenda. The Greens will always refuse to engage in this kind of politics.
We will always be for people and planet, not on keeping the status quo or culture wars made to discriminate and divide.
Look, I'm so happy that Dutton is gone and it's a Labor win rather than the LNP. But, to see Labor win such a majority and people turn their backs on the Greens and others pushing for *genuine* progress for social and environmental justice makes me very sad. Labor are neoliberal light. #AusVotes25

I just lost a newish mobile phone on Wednesday and first thing that came to mind was 'no more Trumpet ads'.
"... Well, and what about 100% right? Whoever says he's 100% right is a fanatic, a thug, and the worst kind of rascal".
Quote from 'An old Jew of Galicia'
Inner cover quote (had to split into 2 posts):
"When someone is honestly 55% right, that's very good and there's no use wrangling. And if someone is 60% right, it's wonderful, it's great luck, and let him thank God. But what's to be said about 75% right? Wise people say this is suspicious..."
Author's note says "its subject is the vulnerability of the 20th century mind to seduction by socio-political doctrines and its readiness to accept totalitarian terror for the sake of a hypothetical future"
My next book to read arrived today:-
THE CAPTIVE MIND, by Czeslaw Milosz.
It is an oldie (1951) but won Nobel Prize in Literature, The Guardian says "A frightening book. It ought to be read".
Very relevant to the present situation in the U.S.A. and potentially elsewhere.
Eating salmon? You're killing Tasmania.
This Parliament has gutted our environment laws to protect an industry selling salmon from diseased pens & sending the Maugean skate extinct.

I've been pre-poll volunteeringđ in a regional electorate. Labor volunteers call line is 'Vote Labor, strengthen Medicare. Vote Greens, get Dutton'. How does that ever make sense?
Sadly the Greens are at the bottom of the pecking order, and they have experienced increased bullying if they try to 'fight' back, even legislative changes to restrict them.
