The Munich Maker Lab loves vending machines. One of our oldest ones offers small DIY kits to build blinking rockets and UFOs.
We recently filled it up completely and now it's waiting for curious customers.
Stop by and grab one!

Our good old Ultimaker Unlimited Z, a 3D printer capable of objects over one meter high, has found its final spot.
It wasn't much used by members lately, so it now serves as a nice lighting object on the wall – a memory piece.

Join our hands-on workshop on the 22th of April and learn the basics of soldering by building fun electronic kits or small creatures made from recycled parts.
No experience needed.

Easter is once again the perfect occasion for another round of cute 3D prints.
One of our members just printed these adorable little chicks – each guarding a chocolate treat.

This new woklette didn't stay in its original state for long!
The built-in temperature control just wasn't reliable enough for our members. They couldn't resist upgrading it and now it features full web control and a sleek interface, all thanks to a bit of creative vibe coding and maker spirit.
A member of Munich Maker Lab recently built an OpenTheremin with a friend based on some kit. The OpenTheremin is an open-source electronic instrument that uses hand gestures in the air to control pitch and volume through electromagnetic fields, much like the classic theremin.
This DIY CNC has been with us for years, but it turned out to be too tricky and hard to use, so it wasn't used much. We've now sold it to another maker and will free up the space to reorganize.
Next, we'll bring in a different CNC from a member – less DIY and more practical for many people.
Garden season is just around the corner and we've got new plans! Our yard will soon feature more raised beds and climbing supports to help everything grow strong and tall.
A classic card game inspired the choice of beans we'll be planting this year.
3D printing area grew to six printers. Added Bambu Lab P1S Lambu/Rambu over a years ago, speed game changer for big projects/prototyping (no unattended runs). Stats: Rambu (AMS) 2047h/3.9h d (07/24), Lambu 1348h/3.6h d (12/24). Older printers still nice for learning basics.
For the past few months, we've revived our classic Remote Controlled (RC) vehicle meetup format. Everyone interested with a vehicle needing repairs or plans for a new build is welcome.
Join the next event on March 17th at 7 PM. Check all current events at munichmakerlab.de/events.
Bike repair is a regular topic in our workshop. Next to our solid bike stand and air pump, we now have a good basic repair kit again.
One member also created a clear explanation sheet for the tools to help you get started.
New tool alert: We've got a borrowed screen printing machine in the lab. Now we can print on t-shirts, posters, stickers and more. A first workshop should be coming soon – stay tuned!
Last weekend at our community project day, one member spontaneously organized a Hot Ones hot sauce tasting and it was super fun.
The sauces are now in our fridge for everyone to try – if you've always wanted a taste of the show's line-up, stop by.
The crowd favourite was Chimichurri Habanero.
People often think a Makerspace is all about electronics, but at the our space, we also make things with fabric!
Our members sew, knit and experiment with textiles using shared materials.
We just added a great knitting guide from a book exchange, a perfect match for our hands-on library.
Right on time for Valentine's Day, we've hung up a new borrowed fairy light chain for a little test run. Now there are no more excuses not to have your next tinkering date at the Maker Lab: sipping a Spezi in a cozy corner while the romance slowly grows by itself inside the 3D printer.
One of our members really wants to explore stained glass art. She requested a glass grinder in the plenum to support her work.
Her first projects are really amazing – check Hannah's account on Instagram or YouTube ("Hannah Rutledge Art"). She has also made a really nice how-to video.
Work safety is always an important topic in a workshop, but especially in an open workshop with many non-professionals. We are happy about a motivated member improving things practically, from better safety goggles, new table saw push blocks, info material and safety course.
The Energy for Ukraine team uses our workshop to recycle battery cells into rugged powerbanks for Ukraine's unstable power regions. Custom 3D prints with special filament, USB lights and LED displays make them tech highlights. Great for our members' battery recycling interests.

In our living room our flipper machine is the favorite – endless gaming fun and fascinating tech with all its cables, sensors, lights and mechanics. When a button broke and the controls failed a small group of our members fully repaired it. A great chance for some hands-on insights!
Recently, we saw a great example of solid repairability in action.
Workshop vac "Saugewesen" cracked but fixed easily – parts from manufacturer, even for old gear, at fair price. Member repaired solo. Like new! Great repairability win.
Workshops usually aren't great places for pets – it's often loud, dangerous and not everyone is a fan. But sometimes leaving them alone at home isn't an option. Still, this little fluff seems to actually enjoy chilling in his tiny cave, even with all the activity around!

The 39th Chaos Communication Congress (39C3) is still underway in Hamburg, packed with talks and discoveries. Some Munich Maker Lab members and friends from clubs like muCCC are onsite, while a decentralized streaming session runs in our lab via media.ccc.de – perfect for diving into topics together
Our CO₂ laser cutter just had maintenance – mirrors cleaned, optical parts recalibrated. More powerful output again, especially good for thicker material. Probably time to replace the mirrors soon.
Just not sure when "steak" made it onto our material cheat sheet.

Our Christmas decoration team really went all out. Two weeks ago, they had a sudden burst of creativity and turned the place into a festive wonderland. Look closely next to the blinky blinky Christmas tree you'll find plenty of little surprises hidden in Christmas style, scattered all around
Our Weldinger drill press has been with us for a few months and it's doing great! Adjustable speed, digital display, and cross-laser make it fun and precise to use.

Prototype paper towel holders used to break in the lab – but now we have solid wooden ones, handmade by a member. It's always great to see practical improvements taking shape in the makerspace.
