They’ve totally stopped speaking to what inspires the artists that follow them.

It's... a lot of things. And they all have to do with capitalism's horrid chokehold
If they relapse (as do many folks that have an addiction), we should be kind and encouraging to those dealing with the relapse. Perhaps help them figure out why they went back to it and find a solution to combat it

GenAI as we know it now is basically a gacha machine--it's made to be as addictive as possible. When we see people try to break out of that cycle, we should be kind and encouraging to these people.
A post that reads, "I'm spiting my addicting to ai by actively doing creative projects without any ai. ever. i hate ai and im now almost 4 months clean :)"
People are dunking on this guy but we really need to support and encourage people who make the decision to step away from AI. Like this is the goal!! For folk to realize and stop using it, even if they were to begin with!! This is a good thing!!

I hate coming in here to sound like a broken record once again, but you seriously don't need genAI to do... ANY of that for you!
We have non-genAI examples of that that exist for a reason and they're not nearly as difficult as the AI bros like to make it out to be!
Modern day Square needs to be put in an enclosure in some far off lab and studied meticulously for how often they've been making consistently bad decisions concerning joining in on capitalist fads super late into it's life-cycle.
Again, this is an indicator for me that it's likely dying
The way things are going now with AI getting to be even more of an expense, it's just as likely they'll actually lose money from this stunt

To add to this excellent thread: AI detectors DO NOT WORK. At all. They are wildly unreliable, offering false positives and false negatives so much that if you are paying for one you are being grifted.
Now, if any AI bros try to appropriate this message to be in support of them, I will take the very hammers that I have in my possession and bust up their computers :)))))
And sure, that takes time and extra tools and shit to be more completely DIY than if I just had a kit. But again, it really depends. And money and time is always gonna be a factor for that particular case
But on the other hand, if the kit for something you need or want is shittily put together (like a recent incident I had to deal with where the holes were not bored into the product correctly at all), well, of course it would make someone think that!
If this is NOT about the AI bros, then lemme give some perspective on how I feel about DIY and people that defend it
On the one hand, I get people buying the kits--it's more convenient and you can get something quicker in less time
