Taken by Artemis II crew, The right hand side corner of the image, the South Pole is towards the top and the North Pole is towards the bottom left. If you zoom in, you can see auroras visible at both poles. The bright glow towards bottom right is zodiacal light, a glow caused by sunlight scattering off dust. The Sun is behind Earth, which is what is causing the glow.

The left hand side corner image, popularly known as the β€œBlue Marble,” was captured as the Apollo 17 mission traveled towards the Moon in 1972. It is brighter because it shows Earth's daytime face, lit by sunlight. Both images show the continent of Africa. Artemis captured the northernmost part of it (oriented β€œupside down” in this view), while Apollo captured more of the central and western parts, as well as Madagascar.

Today on Earth Day we renew our commitment to protect our beautiful planet – its lands, its oceans, and its coasts. We have much to celebrate but much, much more to do.

Weight training class in high school was legitimately my favorite PE class over all my years of mandatory schooling. Instead of competing with others, I, thoroughly unathletic, was competing against myself. My teacher/coach graded us on improvement and progressive overload, not raw weight moved.

HOUSTON (AP) β€” Artemis II’s astronauts return to Earth, ending a record-breaking trip around the moon with a splashdown in the Pacific.

Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.

Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!

it is so annoying how persistent the idea that austin is the only left-leaning city in texas. both san antonio and houston also have democratic mayors and democratic majority city councils

65% of of urban voters in texas voted for Harris

there are diverse, queer communities all across the state

Yep! It cooks them only while it's coming up to pressure and then stops when it's fully pressurized! Gives tenderness but still leaves a nice snap!

Yep, we say "insta pot", too! We use ours mostly to cook vegetables (zero minutes works well on many) or make dulce de leche πŸ˜›

Time to get your air purifiers in working order, purchase those replacement filters, stock up on N95s and figure out a way to seal up any leaks before wildfire smoke rolls into town this summer.

It's Pi Day, but my partner doesn't care for pie, so I made a tiny Boston cream pie (which is a cake) tonight!

It's not my best decorating job, but it's delicious!
