The city’s top tech heads had nothing – no clarity about how life-or-death City departments use, or regulate AI in city systems, or how they protect our privacy and stop bias. They couldn’t even say whether the Parker admin will share our data and collaborate with ICE on deportations.
Packed hearing, dodged questions. At the first-ever City Council hearing on Philly gov’s use of AI and surveillance, City Councilmembers asked powerful, basic questions to open up the city’s black box of technology, and were disappointed by the city’s lack of answers.
