I think these things matter and are important, especially when attempting to carve out an experimental field of mental health care whose proponents are committed to deploying it at scale 🤷‍♂️

Furthermore, the Hopkins program was initiated by Jesse (CSP) (who’s the definition of psychedelic overlap), and co-author of ‘Psilocybin can occasion mystical-type experiences having substantial and sustained personal meaning and spiritual significance,’ which is the genesis of the current movement

*Just some examples of early overlap with Maslow, HPM, Grof, Spring Grove. There’s so much more here and this is a tweet, not a book or thesis.

Sidestepping the field’s origins in an attempt to make its practices more palatable for integration into public healthcare, seems to me to be more of an exercise in controlling the frame than of letting the frame be guided by history, science, and medicine.

The teachings of the dominant schools of psychedelic therapy are rooted in overlapping* strands of occult/spirituality. MAPS as a pharma outgrowth of the human potential movement; Hopkins as its academic counterpart, & a revivification of perennialism (w emphasis on Christianity+sprinkle of Buddhism

If the League for Spiritual Discovery was trying to integrate LSD-assisted therapy, the public & healthcare practitioners would be better off if they were informed of the group’s philosophical underpinnings before diving headfirst into the mental health revolution. Disagree? 🪡

van der Kolk claims “traumatized children have 50 times the rate of asthma as their nontraumatized peers.” He footnotes a paper co-authored by Noll about the long-term impact of incest. That paper doesn’t contain the words “asthma…” Noll confirmed over email: “We’ve never published on asthma”

Cloture!! The bill is moving forward, and we are a huge step closer to social Security fairness for thousands of retirees who have seen their earned Social Security benefits reduced. The Senate needs to finish job by voting for final passage to #RestoreSocialSecurity  bsky.app/profile/sena...

Really. It’s extremely minimal/non-existent when compared to crypto volume, & trad $ laundering methods. In 2024, any serious criminal org understands it’s publicly traceable at the push of a button, and cash off-ramps are easily accessed by law enforcement.

Data doesn’t support this at all

Costs were factor, but not for labs. Lack of professional mgmt & hires from p3 start. Profs brought in too late. Critical (& basic) safety data wasn’t compiled or ignored. Add in sus therapy that can see AE’s as a positive. Problems compounded when outsiders clashed with insiders.

I feel sorry for young people who fully buy into DOGE being a patriotic and virtuous endeavor and are unaware of shock doctrine.

two-thirds had not gone missing at all but, rather, were inappropriately sold or traded —including Uzis and grenade launchers that were never recovered.

I really do find the fact that police traffic in illegal firearms one of the wilder systemic-bad-police-behavior stories out there.

Actively selling the thing that poses the biggest risk to you on your job is a ... choice.

There's an even worse practice, tho:

Need to set the record straight bc there’s a lot of misinfo out there from some MAPS PI’s trying to misdirect. In the discourse that unfolded this year, it was former MAPS employees who first described the org as a “cult” in BI’s 5.13 story. (Goldhill followed up in her STAT story). This matters.
