I saw Bob Dylan last night in Spartanburg, SC in the same venue I last saw him 34 years ago. The show was amazing, and I’m sitting here still thinking about the show last, trying to make sense of exactly what happened. The band was great with two acoustic guitar players, a bass player who switched between stand-up and electric bass, and the amazing Anton Fig on drums. Bob came out with the hood of his jacket over his head, and kept it that way the entire evening while playing the electric piano and playing it well. He played 14 originals plus a cover by Bo Diddley and another by Eddie Cochran. I have never quite warmed up to his last release “Rough and Rowdy Ways,” but the six songs from it, especially “Crossing the Rubicon,” he played last night were excellent. Other highlights included “All Along the Watchtower” and “Love Sick.” He closed with “Every Grain of Sand,” and it ended it with the only harmonica (about 20 seconds) he played all night. The crowd went crazy. He will be 85 next month. As a life-long fan, I beyond happy to have seen him (potentially) one last time.

I just want to say the New York Mets are now 47-70 since playing “Kokomo” on the day Brian Wilson does last June. The curse no one is talking about.
