Our brains do not just care about what we see, but also whether others are also seeing it. A new study led by Mi3's Mustafa Yavuz reveals that even when no one is interacting with you, your brain shifts into a more alert state the moment something you see becomes shareable: tinyurl.com/mwxp7tb4

Very good point, I think many others would share the same point of view!

The data is consistent with, what we call, the 'reluctant allure': participants are reluctant towards sharing brain data; not because brain data is more revealing but because it feels more like the self.
🧠New preprint: why are people reluctant to share their brain data?
Together with @opheliaderoy.bsky.social at @mi3lab.bsky.social, I've investigated public attitudes towards neurotechnologies. The intuitive answer is that people worry what brain data reveals. Our data tells a different story.

We’d like to welcome our latest addition to Mi3’s labs! Postdoctoral researcher David Zapero's current project explores the role that commonsense notions can play in philosophical reflection about perception. Great to have you with us, David!

We treat machines differently from people - but what about machines that are given human-like features like gender? A recent study, co-authored by Mi3's Jurgis Karpus, finds that gender stereotypes also carry over into how we behave toward AI: tinyurl.com/4uckf7j4

What does it mean for a robot to be “aware”? For animals, awareness is woven into every movement, but those abilities don’t come naturally to AI.
