...especially with modifications already match most people's conceptions of an "automatic weapon". They would clearly be included in the ban being suggested. The point is that weapons of war should not be in the hands of every Tom, Dick and Harry, and with political will they could easily be banned.
I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with? What you are saying seems to be exactly along the lines of what I was saying. If someone says ban automatic weapons, and the response is that they're either already banned or prohibitively expensive, then they're ignoring the fact that MSSA's...
Isn't this essentially just semantics, given semi-automatic AR-15-style assault weapons are generally legal in the US, and are what most people probably think of when they talk about automatic weapons?
