Would love to see a Gen Z version of Henry Fool.

The word "pedocon" is a combination of the words "pedophile" and "conservative."
Do people think Sewer Socialism will catch on more if we start calling it Mamdani-ism?
I'm flying out of ONT so a relatively smaller airport. I flew at like 10am a month ago and security took less than 5 minutes.
My heart is in the former, but my head is in the latter. This is why I want the people of Bluesky to decide for me.
Smallish. It's ONT.
Oh yeah, I also have lounge access since that should factor into the equation.
Since we're doing airport takes today, I have to catch a 7am flight this week and I live about a 15 minute drive away from the airport. What time should I leave the house?
This is how the average conservative looks on their 35th birthday.
Absolutely crazy that there is still a coalition that denies that Measure ULA is preventing apartments from being built. Just exempt multifamily and commercial properties so you can actually tax mansions!
Proud to have convinced Bill Fischel of something (he's a very nice guy btw) papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
"This is all based on rigorous science."
"The vast majority of Trump voters are opiate addicts who have sold at least 1 of their children for drugs. On average, they read at the level of a 5th grader and nearly all of the adult males are pedophiles. Their communities are vastly poorer because of aforementioned pedophilia and low avg. IQ."
I used to volunteer with AHLA back in 2019 and worked pretty closely with them during my time at California YIMBY. I want LA to have a good pro-housing advocacy organization given what a nightmare city housing policy is and given that the city might finally elect a mayor who understands the issue.
Can we in California's YIMB community have a talk about WTF is going on with @abundanthousingla.bsky.social's endorsement decisions? Why am I seeing the image on the right a few weeks after AHLA told me to vote for one of the CA Senate's biggest segregationists?
Not joking in the slightest when I say that the state of California should dissolve the city government of Los Angeles and put it into receivership. LA is just dead-weight dragging the entire state down at this point.
But students who were naturally curious or interested in something used all their COVID free time to deep dive. They spent that year+ teaching themselves various things and in the process, made themselves far better students than they would've been just sitting around bored in a HS class.
My theory is that COVID ruined education by making everything frictionless. You didn't have to put on pants and show up to a classroom, you got limitless extensions and do-overs, and online-everything normalized cheating. There was just no going back for some who spent a formative year+ in this.
What's crazy for me is that student quality is bifurcating rapidly. I've been teaching on-and-off since 2018 and while it's always been the case that classes were 1/3 serious kids and 2/3 just along for the ride, the best students are better than they've ever been while the worst are just abysmal.
As someone who is both Shoup-pilled and spends too much money on wine, bravo.
I've been going to a Thai restaurant in this plaza for years and every time I go, I think about how amazing it would be to convert this dumb surface parking lot for 40 cars that's a 5 minute walk from a Metro station into an apartment building.
Somewhat related, but have any architects done work on multifamily housing that can occupy the surface parking of a typical American strip mall without demolishing the commercial structures? Seems challenging, but I bet someone has figured it out.
I think those got Trump lots of support in 2020 and 2024, but I don't think they're bringing that many previous non-voters to the poll. I think it has more to do with younger, US-born generations aging into voting.
Crazy to me that AAPI turnout has surpassed Latino turnout so greatly. Is it the difference in wealth among first-generation kids that's driving this?
While this stuff might be dumb and annoying, it is all downstream of not only attending a university (something that only about 35% of Americans did) but attending a specific type of program at a specific type of university. The people in the nonprofit industrial complex didn't go to CSUN.
"Advocacy speak" is just making up monsters to be scared of, but the Democratic Party does have an elitism problem in that only those from wealthy households can take the abysmal salaries offered by orgs in the extended party network. When you only hire top 10%ers, you get top 10%er thought.
To be clear, just because some of today's oligarchs are fascists doesn't mean that oligarchy inevitably leads to fascism. The main issue is that wealth in America is mostly assigned by a birth lottery so politics run by oligarchs inevitably means politics by a handful of dumb, mediocre people.
The thing about oligarchies is that oligarchs eventually get bored with yachts and sports cars and want to satiate that impulse with politics.
Imagine if the government spent $1 billion per day on stuff like this rather than losing wars.
I realize that he was born in Uganda and I was being somewhat flippant with my post. But honestly, we're going to need such a drastic overhaul of our constitution to defeat the modern Slave Power that may as well add something in that allows immigrants to serve as President.
