When I was in my 20s, we had professional networking groups that met once a week. We'd invite people from different industries and help connect one another to other people we knew.

We also had social clubs to help each other out. No one does this stuff anymore! We need to bring it back!

Also, before smartphones, strangers used to actually talk to each other. Networking happened naturally because people weren't self-isolating behind earbuds and social-media interest bubbles.
