interesting thought, maybe along these lines we could similarly bundle some streaming services together so that you had one place to watch a lot of different programming

this is also consistent with my experience of preaching. the parts i am proudest of/think are the best usually go unremarked-upon, and the parts i am least sure of are the parts people always single out as meaningful. that's what the Holy Spirit looks like at work, imho.
i like to say that mercy should abound--except in the sermon editing process.
this may not be your experience, though, so if it is not helpful please do ignore it.
but ever since hearing this, it has been true in my life. the alienation is because there is something in my life or about myself that i don't feel comfortable bringing to God. but the instant i do, i find God is (still) there, and that grace (still) abounds.
so i want to be very careful in saying that i am not trying to pathologize feelings of alienation. but i once had someone tell me that the remedy for feelings of alienation was repentance, confession, absolution. i don't mean this at all to say that alienation is your *fault*...

yeah, it was pretty egregious. literally no one had recommended self-medicating, but he sure annihilated that straw man!
that guy was wrong from the jump and then amazingly decided to just get wronger.
as a constituent and a fellow clergy person, i would just like to say that i find this a supremely embarrassing thing to say. the threatened extermination of human life is not a distraction from economic policy.

plus serving on chapel planning teams where you planned and carried out most of the chapel services for the week, plus leading worship regularly as part of small groups that met with faculty advisors.
i went to an episcopal seminary, and i think it was technically three: one historical liturgics, one essentially liturgical theology, and one practicum. there were also a number of additional liturgics electives, plus homiletics.
