Had some money saved up for the new eshin stuff. But a combination of hard to get boxes to split, the new rules that I don't like, and that I could just rebase my current ones, meant I spent that money on a 500pnt old world army instead.

Expanding the skaven beyond the battletome with some new RoRs, but couldn't not make them out of rats.

Solid progress today. Got all the edges cleaned up, brick borders placed and some of the mud added.

Yeah hope new rules add some more flair and options for skaven. Not sold on the new models personally. Like the new hero, but the infantry are lacking something interesting. Much better than monkey hands, but not better than a lot of the 3d sculpts already available tbh.

Took about 2h all up. Not too bad for a whole armies worth.

Yeah that all makes sense. Still seems like a lot of units for each army to replace. Thought it would take half a decade to get there, but maybe since there are less factions than other games they can speed through them faster

Its kind of insane how much 40k has been coasting on 2nd and 3rd ed nostalgia for a little bit. All the named heros are just new sculpts of famous artwork, and then the big reveals this week are: Return to Armageddon, Red Terror, Old marine helmets, new Yarrick.

If you're taking these AoS rumors at face value, just remember that 9th edition 40k was rumored to have all models in a unit be on single giant diorama style base. Solely because of the St Catherine sisters model existed.
