Updated time to allow for people to attend May Day.
Just a heads up, we just updated the time to meet a little later than initially planned for. This should give people some time to visit May Day. Meet at 2:30 PM, leave at 3 PM.
Overthinking I-94 (Part 1/4) : Parsing the Scoping Decision Document: https://streets.mn/2026/03/21/overthinking-i-94-part-1/
MNDOT's Rethinking I-94 alternative selection process looks objective, but how well does that hold up?

A sign hung in the window that says “The Lagoon Cinema is Closed Today, Sun 3/15/26, due to, ya know, the blizzard.”
Lagoon Cinema is closed today, don'tcha know. #mnwx
City of Minneapolis pickup truck with a snow plow is moving the snow on the Greenway. A person walking their dog is using the recently plowed section of the trail.
The Midtown Greenway is getting plowed right now! The Bryant Ave bike trail looks recently cleared too.
Library book display with a sign saying “Who’s mentioned in the Epstein Files? Find them here.” The display features books about Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Elon Musk, Bill Cosby, Bill Gates, and others.
This display at the Minneapolis Central Library is so good. "Who's mentioned in the Epstein Files? Find them here."
They did that in some places when constructing trench in the 1910s!
Gah, that still seems like a long time. Why even have this trail overhead structure at all then? This spot is wide and level, which seems like one of the few places they could avoid further closures.
Looking through the construction roof over the trail to the east
A more zoomed in view looking to the west through the construction tunnel
The tunnel views!
Uff, I sure hope not!
I’m making this my whole personality
Looking east at a protective cover over the trail and remaining bridge peers of the 10th Ave Bridge
Protective trail cover from falling debris over the Greenway Trail
Freestanding bridge piers amidst a pile of rubble
A piece of concrete hangs off of a piece of rebar against brick inside of a bridge pier
The Midtown Greenway is open again at 10th Ave as all parts over the trail were demolished. We have a new tunnel for the time being, I'm hoping this will mean limited closures this summer.
Overhead view of the 10th Ave S bridge over the Midtown Greenway. Most of the bridge deck has been knocked down, leaving just the supporting structure.
10th Ave S bridge demo, end of day 1.
March 11: Looking at the bridge from the north west corner, showing no deck with rebar and bits of concrete making a rough edge on the spans that remain.
March 11: From the ground on the north east corner of the bridge, spans remain with piles of concrete and rebar on the ground.
March 12: From the northwest corner, the entire northern spans have been removed, leaving a single pier standing, with partially removed spans behind.
March 12: From the ground on the north eastern side, a loan pier stands, with crews removing spans on the southern spans.
The 10th Ave Bridge over the Midtown Greenway had the deck removed yesterday, and the span removal making progress today. The first two photos are from around 6:30 PM on March 11, and the latter two from 3:45 PM on March 12.
It's happeninnngggg 🚧🙌
Maybe the 12 ton limit is for the weight of the concrete in the deck itself 😆
The open sidewalk partially fell through in late 2021 (12’x3’ hole) and was fully opened later.
The oldest are 112 years, lots of replacements in the coming years. I’m amazed any time I see anyone (illegally) parking a car on one, purely from a weight perspective.
A sign saying “Weight limit 12 tons” is posted in front of the closed 10th Ave bridge with a crumbling deck.
Multiple signs indicating road closed, followed by two layers of fences close off the 10th Ave bridge on the north side
I find it a little amusing that the 12 ton limit sign is still posted next to the crumbling and very much closed bridge (for a few years now).
A construction sign sits in front of the worksite around the 10th Ave Bridge saying “Trail closed begins March 11”
Looking into the former loading bay underneath the southernmost span of the 10th Ave Bridge. There’s a cinderblock wall at the far end of the unlit room. The Sears, Roebuck and Co. building towers behind.
Looking east up at the 10th Ave Bridge. The westernmost sidewalk of the deck is gone. Each column of the piers is supported by a steel rod connected to concrete blocks on the ground.
A wide angle view shows part of the old loading bay and the peers on the eastern side of the 10th Ave Bridge
I checked out the area yesterday. The former railroad loading bay of the Sears, Roebuck and Co building had its door removed, I've always wanted to look inside! The 10th Ave and Elliot Ave bridges were modified in 1928 when the building was constructed to be incorporated into the loading bay.
The Midtown Greenway will be closed with a detour starting on March 11 for the removal of the 10th Ave Bridge deck. The detour goes from Park Ave, along 28th St, and to the Cepro Site park via 10th Ave. Thankfully a short detour for this bridge!

It's March 9th and 49ºF outside and I just heard someone in my building's air conditioning start up outside my window. This feels too soon!
🚨🚨🚨Sunday's Emergency has been upgraded to a Level 1 (FULL ACTIVATION) DJ Emergency Ride.

Congrats to Rep. @katiejonesmpls.bsky.social and family, who biked to the hospital last week and came back with baby Hans. Here's what she told me about the ride:
Keep May 9, June 6, July 12, and August 22 open on your calendar IMO IJS JAT. There'll be other surprises along the way, too!
There are so many trolly buses in Vancouver, Canada, I'm in love.
I don’t know what this means, but I’m there. You had me at “bike party”!
