Champions whole currency system discouraging trial and error for team building while making the freebie Pokemon absolute shit has been giving me tcg online flashbacks. tcg online’s paid pack code trade economy was worse but champions being a high profile title makes it about even with TCGO

Tbf live is generous because its aim seems to be boosting organized play participation in order to create cyclical purchasing habits while champions is supposed to replace mainline competitive and be the premier pokemon experience on phones when mobile launches so different goals I suppose

My big issue is that, unlike TCG live which is so generous with freebies that the client issues can be ignored due to just how easy it makes getting meta deck, champions is extremely stingy with VP and it’s making me worried abt training pokemon because I may need that vp later

Tera is a cool gimmick because it’s applicable to every pokemon and feel more natural by playing with the type mechanic but it’s aesthetically awful and also still benefits already powerful pokemon far more impactful way than niche picks so I’d rather just have no gimmicks

They should’ve just gotten rid battle gimmicks all together for Pokemon champions…
megas are not as bad as Z moves or dymamax but benefit already powerful Pokemon to a point where it just doesn’t feel fun trying to team build around them

VGC players experiencing but a fraction of the years long torture experience that has been pokemon TCG live… maybe TCG live did lower my expectations too much but honestly champions is like fineeee not great but fineeeeee

I’m sobbing this is so garbage…. Does it at least copy the pokemon across from it in doubles when mega evolving ??? Or is it still 50/50 like with a trace Pokemon switching in ???

They should drop pokemon champions now because I have a short attention span and would appreciate it
