Now, I will cop that I have lots of notifications that get silently delivered to my notification center. So I see them. I just check them on my terms, when I think about it. I control my attention to them. They don't control me.

I fully understand needing to receive calls/texts if you're a caregiver, for certain jobs, etc. But push notifications for individual emails, DMs, group chats, news headlines, and every single app on your phone. That sounds like absolute hell. How does anyone ever get anything done?
Like, I just didn't realize it was a trendy thing or such a big step. I thought most people had some version on these days, with all the schedules/filters available now. But yes, I have annoyed people who try to call me or to whom I reacted aghast when I saw they have push notifications for *email.*
That said, I did relate to this:
"...similar to how I imagine it felt to declare yourself a vegan in the 1990s. You come across a little bit rude, or at least holier than thou... People sometimes take it as an attack on their habits, when it's actually a personal decision you’ve made."
Genuinely didn't think having Do Not Disturb on 24/7 was a radical decision. I have filters for family, and other important folks on occasion, to get through, but have otherwise had some version of DnD on for close to a decade.
"I don’t know how it’s possible for trans people in this country to be so visible in the national discourse and yet simultaneously unseen." @charlotteclymer.bsky.social
"all writers are using AI and lying about it" is up there with "all writers are millionaires"
Even better, it took until paragraph SEVEN of this article for me to learn about the trailer.
I love that even Variety is spending most of the article talking about her transphobia.

Honestly proud of my filter bubble that it has taken me multiple days to figure out why everyone was talking about HP again. All I saw were people dunking on JKR & making great points, with receipts, about her transphobia. Only now have I learned a trailer dropped for the new show. Love that for me.
I was just lying in the backyard, staring up at the clouds when a plane passed into view with a fucking Amazon ad painted on the bottom of it.
Literally trying to touch grass and still being advertised to.
This means a lot coming from you. Thank you, Cheryl 🧡
MAKE AN EMERGENCY DONATION to Trans Continental Pipeline right now.
They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate there and they are overwhelmed with requests. CO borders KS, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.
GO DONATE.

I’m transgender, I live in Kansas, if you want to help rn donate to either the ACLU of Kansas or the ACE foundation in Wichita - the ACE foundation especially is the organization that will help people with money for groceries, rent, etc. More orgs also included in attached img

i really can not emphasize enough that the most materially impactful thing you can do for trans people right now is hire them.
They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.
Update: Internet won’t be restored until at least 10:30. Gonna have to cancel the stream tonight. Sorry buds ☹️
Wow, I’m shocked this worked! I’ve been getting error messages on Instagram and Twitch for an hour. Go Bluesky!
Stream friends! My neighborhood is experiencing an internet outage and we have very little cell service. I’m trying to get online for tonight’s stream, but it may not happen until 7:30 PM EST. I’ll go live as soon as I can!
a stat i always cite is the number of anti-trans articles in the press went from 60 in a year, to 7,500
As if the Olympic Opening Ceremony and the Super Bowl happening in the same weekend wasn’t enough, that Friday is also the scheduled launch date for Artemis II. So many feats of humanity packed into one weekend, dang. Mark your calendars for February 6-8.

Hello hellscape newsfeed, if you ever need a brief respite from the horrors™, I host a cozy li'l crafting stream every Monday at 6 PM EST. It's like escaping into a virtual pillow fort to do arts and crafts with your buddies. Last night I made wax seals for thank you cards! twitch.tv./jackisnotabird

Going live in an hour to continue stitching the Emerald City! Bring a project to co-craft or just join for a cozy break from the madness. twitch.tv/jackisnotabird
It is easy to imagine the Journal, the Times, and the Post as three nervous suburbanites on a day trip to New York City: purses clutched tight to their sides, their hands grasping pepper spray as they descend into the threatening depths of the Times Square subway station, vigilant to the possibility of an attack from a homeless person. These types of visitors, their view of the city shaped by too many urban crime dramas, are common. We welcome them. We do our best to soothe their fears. We even try to gently persuade them to go to Jackson Heights and try some Indian food. But we do not let them tell us how to run our city. That would be ridiculous.

I'm not even a New Yorker and this hits perfectly.
serious note: they're gonna try 5x harder to sabotage the midterms after tonight and we're gonna have to organize on a literally historic scale to stop them
Even my home county???
😂😂😂
I am mourning my youth, Preeti.
Pour one out for everyone who thought they were still young, but suddenly became older than the mayor of new york.
I made a little history video for you to play while you get ready to head out to your Halloween festivities. Come for the theory on why gay people love Halloween, stay for the history of the holiday as a site of queer resistance. 🎃
Welp. Just found out I’m older than the invention of corn mazes so I officially feel ancient.
