The only scams I'm aware of are in impersonating other people and requesting transfers.

3 days ago 2 0 0 0

You always have to transfer via your bank app (all banks have to support it) to somebody's "Pix", which is a key like their email or phone number, so this is the information people give you. When people present a QR code they lead you to your bank app where you'd then confirm the transfer.

Common occurrence in Brazil since 2021 (when Pix, a national, free, instant money transfer service, started running).

Steven Soderbergh Sparked Controversy for Using A.I. He Thinks It’s Not the Real Issue Facing Movies. The legendary director talks his new film The Christophers, A.I., and the art and business of cinema.

The Christophers is Steven Soderbergh’s most thrilling entertainment since Magic Mike. And it also felt like a good opportunity to check in with him about art, A.I., and the real threat to the future of movies.

Is It Wrong to Write a Book with A.I.? The horror novel “Shy Girl” was cancelled for being generated at least partly through artificial intelligence. Would we ever accept such a book as art?

It may “soon be unpersuasive to say that art made with A.I. is automatically fake or bad,” Joshua Rothman writes. “The tools themselves won’t determine what counts as art; that will depend on how they’re used.” www.newyorker.com/culture/open...

A PhD is an apprenticeship in research – we can’t let AI take that away AI might have ‘PhD-level’ intelligence. But substituting it for a PhD student sacrifices a special part of the academic ecosystem.

To a layman’s definition of intelligence, the claim of frontier models being “PhD-level” has moved quickly from being farcical to arguable. We need to have our eyes open to the implications, not least for our PhD students and the future of research theconversation.com/a-phd-is-an-...

Every time I have to deal with anything involving "12:00pm" I triple check it because it's always confusing to me. Unlike.

Ele diz: “…e carrego comigo pra onde for.”
3) Homem diz: “Assim, se alguma coisa me acontec…” - sua frase é interrompida por um automóvel que o atropela, jogando-o de lado e fazendo com que as folhas da sua bolsa se espalhem.
4) Em meio aos edifícios, centenas de folhas de papel voam e são levadas para longe.

Bad laughter feeds on itself. Contempt for art or perspectives that feel alien thirsts for validation from the people next to you. I get the argument that we're all entitled to our own reactions, but actually, no. Not when they're so loud and performative that they cut into the experience of others.

Not supper happy about the last point (I think abstracting that is more a choice than a necessity) but overall really good! I was thinking how I used to believe these myths at first and in time learned that things are more complicated. 😅

Great resource!

This is specially important for people starting their research careers.

Getting to know different research communities is really important! Technical insight is crucial, but science is ultimately a social endeavor -- understanding and communicating to your peers is key.
