We did a study on #belonging & #collaboration in #online graduate students recently. Participants shared their perspectives on connections in programs and if they felt pride or allegiance to their university—even if they never see anyone in person. Answers varied! Any thoughts on this?

"Clustering: grouping students based on similar learning needs" is harmful because it reinforces stereotypes and can highlight inequities. Consider "flexible grouping" instead, which focuses on addressing various learning needs. "Tracking" is harmful because it focuses on students with deficits and limits. Consider "student goal-setting" instead, which focuses on the positive aspects of student achievement. "Ability-grouping" is harmful because groupings are focused on deficits rather than strengths. Consider "flexible grouping" instead, which focuses on addressing various learning needs.

Labels in education often focus on children's weaknesses, historically dividing diverse learners from the "norm" & limiting how educators see them.
